    Machine torch for the Hypertherm

    20240909_171103.jpg

Grab the other plasma cutter; selling my machine torch for more than I thought I would so I'd be able to let my plasma cutter go for less

    20240909_171025.jpg

So far I've got 2 plasma cutters, 2 machine torches, and 2 hand torches

Have you ever run pulsed mig?

It's all the shop I work at now does

But I don't quite know how to set "arc length" as I'm used to volts being the temperature control when it comes to wire fed stuff

I had it on the 350P I ran at my last shop

You simply adjust the frequency at which you want it to run as it helps with heat when you're running beads

I used it maybe a handful of times running stuff uphill on large frames because the crossmembers were thinner gauge

    What machine you running?

Oh God... There's like 5 different combos of miller power sources and wire feeders that I'm stuck with using none of which I know and some of which look like a forklift dropped something on in 2004

Some of the wire feeders feed wire like they're mounted on a helicopter flying over a rice patty in vietnam in 1967

We're only allowed to run downhill so we have problems with pinholes when grinder dust is present

No matter what I set any machine at it feels wayy too hot... Need to travel very fast to make a decent looking bead but questionable penetration

Oooh you're running some transformer-based machines aren't ya?

Those Miller's have always run extra hot for me, regardless of the shop I was at. Just seems they all run that way.

I get you though. We were allowed to run beads our way but at this job, you had to pass a few weld tests to even be hired and that determined the work you'd do at said shop.

I only ever ran pulse uphill, and ran it super hot when I did stainless. Never ran pulse for mild.

Dudes I’m having a helluva time trying to figure out why my 2rz buggy is running so shitty.

Symptoms: hesitates when on the throttle. Feels like it’s struggling on when on the throttle. Backfiring into the intake. Rough idle.

New Toyota oem maf, new 02 sensors, new iac, new oem Toyota spark plugs. No carbon tracking on any spark plugs. Checked for vacuum leaks with with QuickStart and propane. Nothing noted. Engine is a 1998 2rz (two coil) from a 2wd Tacoma.
