Anyone listen to the latest from Linkin Park with their new singer?

Haven't bothered to look them up, but apparently Chester's son Jaime is totally against it.

She's a nutjob and yeah, it's not a good match. Just a cover band now.

I'm okay with you calling them classic rock but that means we now need a new name for previous gen classic rock like Skynard-AC/DC-GunsNRoses-Black Sabbath etc

Yup, she's a quack job and has tried distancing herself from it as a "thing of my past" since joining the band, but it's all just BS. Chester's songs were all about his mental health struggles and he died because of those struggles, then they turn around and bring a Scientologist (who don't believe in mental health issues) in to replace him? total slap in the face.

I was never a huge fan of them anyway, back in high school in ~2001/02 when Hybrid Theory came out I was into them like everyone else. But outgrew them pretty quick. I don't get all the idolization of Chester as a singer tbh, people put him on a pedestal with the likes of Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Layne, etc and I don't think he's anywhere near their league but that's just my opinion.

Scott Wieland was better. STP replacing him with Chester for a few years was terrible too.

Scott was definitely better especially in his prime. Shame what happened to him, too (pretty much what happened to all of them except Eddie Vedder, the Lone Ranger still kicking from that era). Scott singing with The Doors was epic. Sounded so much like Jim Morrison

The new STP is nothing like the original stuff. Should've renamed the band. Jeff can sing, but it's not STP.

yeah I have mixed feelings about a lot of those guys carrying on with the same band name without their legendary lead singers. Alice In Chains have been doing it too with William Duvall since 2006, 4 years after Layne died. He's good but he's no Layne.

But as far as AIC goes, Jerry Cantrell their guitarist and primary songwriter was always the main driving force of the band, and he's a fucking awesome singer in his own right so if he wants to carry them on then he's got the right to as far I'm concerned

people like to say that the term "butt rock" originated with the Nu-metal bands of the late 90s/00s but I think bands like AC/DC, Bon Jovi, GnR, Journey etc started that. Those bands that strived to create bar ballads that permeate every drinking hole in the country
