Having a winch, now, doesn't mean I want to use it.
Sometimes a man needs things just to have them.

 

If thats the case avoid Fridays run... Saturday is for fun and see some beautiful country. Friday I try and throw in an obstacle or two. Last year it took us several hours to go a mile or two...

 

You need to get your money's worth out of it, though. Personally, I've gotten stuck way more often since getting a winch.

 

Funny how that happens!

Getting myself unstuck 1 time will have paid for itself.
$500 is what the tow truck wanted to pull me out of the sticks.

 

I've gotten other people stuck since I got my winch






Then I got stuck going downhill one time and had to use it....

What? and miss an opportunity to watch someone else get stuck?

I don't think so.

 

Based on last year's Friday run, everyone is probably getting stuck. Or, at least using their winch.

 

We didn't get stuck.
The winches assisted us to get through some spots that appeared to be hazardous.

 

My winch goes on the rear receiver.
Guess I'll have to drive through those spots in reverse.

 

Offroading

I still laugh thinking about that. We had been off the main road for 2 hours or so and I could still hear cars passing by.

We'll pull you through.

 

So now that I actually have a winch, what else do i need? Tree saver? anything else?

 

Tree saver, snatch block or ring, an extra shackle or two...soft are an option.

 

Tackled the Colorado dust in the engine bay. Turned out great. Took about 45 minutes.
