I wanted to give a shout out to ADD Automotive who just installed my catalytic converter guard with secure locking bolts. It sits under one of my Trailhunter skid plates. I had one on my 3G and how have one on the 4G. This is an awesome company and they are based in Houston. If you look below the cat guard is the shinier metal plate with vents. It also doubles as additional armor.

I thought these were irrelevant on the 4th gen’s since the cats were move to where the couldn’t be stolen.

I can't recall anyone I know having their converter stolen. Auto theft has a higher rate of theft than converters. Most of the shields I have seen in pinctures look to be a quality product.

It was something the dealership provided to me as part of the purchase. You all are correct that cat converter thefts are down. But I see it as insurance and a little bit of extra underbody protection.

More than I need but still not enough.
I lived in shithole, I mean Seattle for two years and had the Cat stolen off of my company vehicle 4 times. Areas that had a strong "defund the police" mindset are hotbeds for crimes of all kinds. Luckily I now live where I could leave my truck running with the windows down and keys in it and only thing that would go missing is some gas from idling. For the added underbody protection, I like it OP.

Thanks. I live in Houston near downtown. It’s very “urban” and the crime level is high. My 2022 trd pro was stolen in early August. I’m just not taking any chances. The dealer gave me the cat guard as part of the purchase. It serves as some additional armor as well. No downside.

If they tossed it in then why not? Extra peace of mind and some additional armor. Nothing worse than waking up early for work and the moment the vehicle turns over you wake all of your neighbors.
