We had a great time in March minus the rain lol. The challenge course is getting revamped and expanded for the fall event so it will definitely be better than in the spring! If I recall correctly there are around 30 miles of trails to drive out there as well. While the challenge course isn't "difficult" for a built rig it's much more than what the Francis Marion offers.

Overland South is not like all the other expo's... There aren't 1000 vendors pushing products in your face or trying to sell you the latest gear. This event is all about camping, offroading, and having a good time outdoors. Even if you opt for just a Saturday day pass, there are a bunch of activities the whole family can enjoy.

    Thanks, Jay.
Are you part of the organizing team?

If you are, I'd love to have a conversation about the progression of the event and it future goals, simply to offer some perspective from being in the industry for a while.

I used to teach off road driving and recovery skills courses at events like these.

While I get that too many vendors can be overwhelming, I've developed some very fruitful relationships and long lasting friendships with various vendors and industry leaders over the years from similar events.

Granted it's primarily an off road event with a few other outdoorsy activities, and not the other way around, Toyota Jamboree in Texas does an incredible job of bringing these best of the best to the table while keeping it small and intimate enough to not get lost in the crowd.

    See you there!

I'm not officially part of the organizing team but guess you could consider me a volunteer for it. I help with building the challenge course, mapping trails, promoting, recoveries, etc.

Jeff is looking for some more experienced off-road and/or recovery speakers if you'd be interested in doing that again! Can get you in touch with him to discuss things further if so.

While there aren't a ton of vendors, there still are some. The amount of vendors will grow as the event does I'm sure but vendors will not be the main focus like most of the other expos around the country.

Well, Toyota dealership in Kentucky tightened the sequoia oil filter cap so tight I had to use a breaker bar to remove it. No surprise, it sheared the tab off the side. Found a new one on American Toyota Parts on sale for $66.12 and the only local dealership that had it was Peter Boulware in Cola... They wanted $128 for the same part but they gave me a discount when I showed them the online price. Out the door for $82.22! Good people in the service dept there!

It’s crazy the amount of force dealers put on the oil filter!

Japanese Import Pro's is hosting a Rigs & BBQ event on September 28th from 10am-1pm if anyone is interested! The owner is cooking up some boston butts for everyone to enjoy while hanging out. Come stop by their new shop off hwy 17 in West Ashley to hang out, check out some cool rigs, and eat some BBQ!

I'll also be out there for OTT tune installs. Shoot me a message for pricing and availability!

That’s pretty close to the house. I may stop in. I hope he doesn’t mind that we use lex tech instead of him… maybe when lex tech stops servicing our 100 series, we will switch.

Welp. Just got some oil leaks fixed in the GX. Drove it yesterday morning, got gas near the house, drove it to work and then drove it home. So I put about 60 miles on it. Today, it won't start. Battery is healthy, it turns over fine. So either water in the gas (it was less than 1/4 tank when I filled it up) or fuel pump went out. Every once in a while, it would stumble before starting. So maybe that was a sign the pump was going out. It starts when spraying starter fluid into the intake.

Oh boy! I hope not. I haven't heard that around here. If it's bad gas, I should be able to go after the station to get them to pay for it. Hopefully.
