Maine is a big state. Any idea of the general area you plan on visiting?

I stayed here once, pretty nice for a normal campground. Sites arent packed in together.

You are not wrong. But just go down to your local hardware store and pick up the largest grade 8 washers you can find and put them in between there. That's how I ran because I used a diff spacer.

State's cool, yeah, whatever, even public/BLM/etc spots are cool. I get into fed stuff free, but it ain't like entry tickets are breaking the budget or anything.

We want to check out the coast, but not necessarily beaches. She's kinda gravitating towards Bar Harbor/Acadia, I'm ambivalent but less crowded "secret" spots would be way cooler.

I stayed at Blackwoods Campground in Acadia a couple years ago. It was nice with plenty of trees separating each site. You can walk down to the cliffs overlooking the ocean. They have flush toilets but no showers. There are pay showers at a place across the street from the campground entrance.

Acadia camping grounds are good, things should be slowing down a bit. I can’t remember the name right now, but there is a state park in the China Lakes region that’s decent. Let us know if there are other areas beside Acadia. If you really want to drive up the coast, I enjoyed my times at Cobescock (sp) State Park on the border.

How far up you want to go?

you can stay a night at the parking lot for cutler

    pretty far up there tho

if Acadia, I just stayed at Seawall campground. The picnic area is rad. Super close to the bass harbor lighthouse.
No shower.. but there’s a store nearby that’s like $1.5 per 2 min

Bringing on the math nerd time to shit on the fourth gens

    :cookiemonster:

"only" 55k miles tracked on fuelly for the 24s. That's not a TON, but spread between 27 vehicles, that, to me, tells me there's a decent mix and that's going to be the norm. Ish. Might go up a .1 or .2 here and there over the years, probably. 2022 is 18.6, so I'll call it 18.7 just to be kinda fair on a normal comparison.

    upload_2024-9-11_8-42-10.png

    Better by 0.9mpg.
Average owner holds it for, what do we think, 150k miles?

    19.6 mpg = 7653 gallons
    18.7 mpg = 8021 gallons

So, over the life of owning the truck for 150k miles, you use 368 more gallons of gas.
If gas is 3.25/gal (kinda random shot in the dark) the new engine will save you.....

1196$ over the course of 150k miles.

Why did I choose 150k miles?

    upload_2024-9-11_8-48-32.png

Now, the Tacoma replacement is probably VERY similar to a Ranger, I say that only because the ranger has been about since about 2019, so there are more numbers to actually relate to.

    upload_2024-9-11_8-49-29.png

So the average turbo replacement cost is 626 labor, 713 parts = 1339$

The 1 mpg every gen is great. I consistently get 19-20 when I don't use the truck for stupid shit. Scanguage and manually verified

Jack and I have talked before - the armor goes on, but other stuff comes off to accommodate. My sliders are the only "100% net gain" weight I've added. My rear bumper was essentially net zero. My front bumper was a couple lbs net positive I think. Skid was maybe a couple lbs net positive (rad supports came off). It's surprising how little net weight armor actually adds.

Winches add a lot, and it's canti so that's way out there.
Larger tires are the biggest hit to mileage.

I'm usually in the 18-19 neighborhood. When I had stock 4 ply 30" tires, doing 60mph highways cross country - those were the days

I think mine cost me about 0.5 at the most. Went from 4 to 10 ply, and 30 to 31.
But, the flipside is, they've now been through NMW 3-4 times without any punctures. Stocks (in their defense, all of them were VERY low life left...) gave me hassle every time.

But the 6 speed bumps each way to the office gets old. Genuinely contemplating going down to 20-25 and keeping the compressor at the ready for any longer drives I need to take
