I know options are limited for wiring but why would the put it in between the bumper and the bed. Where it can easily get pinched the 1st time you get rear ended, or back into something.

They should've just shoved it through the spare tire hole for that matter.

As far as the battery corrosion, the terminal is probably that weak @$$ aluminum garbage.:boink::crapstorm:J/K

Their wiring job makes me think the corrosion is from a loose connection arcing.

Rich is correct, that this has been about 3 years of planning overall, and the build planning with Torfab was about five months in duration before they took delivery in August. They've been updating me with photos, progress, and suggestions along the way. Their reputation as a land cruiser specialty shop and as enthusiasts themselves is well known. Even the service writer has an 80 series.

That said, I'm extensively modifying a 30 year old imported vehicle. Things can go wrong, either with work I do or work that Torfab does, and I've accepted that. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

For the curious, the engine tear down is done and the reassembly is underway.

New OEM water pump and plating of various parts (oh so shiny)

    Certainly.
I don't doubt any planning or research that you've done. As we all know human error is always a factor and things can go wrong.

With Taoist and your vehicle, I thought it was a good question to raise for anyone watching who might be considering getting out of town work done.

Some shops might be cooperative, some might say F.U. lol

It’s going to be so clean you won’t want to drive it!
It’ll end up in a nice garage with floor to ceiling windows. Pat will rub it with diapers….

When Pat remodeled his garage the intention was for it to be used as a showroom.
Pat will invite everyone to his house, not for mod day but an " Admire Day."
    He'll serve caviar and champagne.
Suit and tie will be mandatory.

And make us buy tickets to see it, so he can pay for all the work done.
    $1200/plate. $260/parking. Cash bar.

Valet parking would require me to be seen in a second gen, which is not possible
