does anybody know where Bucees get their gasoline from? I get gas for my tacoma at bucees. Never had any problem with them. I just wanted to know if it's any better or the same as your other major brand, like shell, chevron, texaco etc... I know their main office is at Lake Jackson somewhere and I have heard that bucees was somehow involved with Citgo which is controlled by Chavez, don't really want to support that. Any imput from TW members? BTW sorry if there's a thread on this topic.

It's a tourist trap. Theres one in Luling on I10 and a new on hwy 59 in Wharton which is south of Houston. To answer your question about the gas. I think is shell gas at both of those locations.

Lol naahh the Bucees i know of are like on the routes like two way farm roads. And one off 288 South going to freeport.

They are amazing, its like a mini-walmart and their gas tends to be cheaper than other places.

It can be, but down in Lake Jackson where I live it's the cheapest gas and best restrooms hands down.

There is one in Temple about 20 minutes away from me. Only ever stop there if I need fuel since once you have been in one, you have been in them all.

Bucees gets their gas from the same place everyone else does: from a tank in some tank farm.

Short of it is, the gas stations in Houston and the surrounding areas do not get their gasoline from the refinery that is the same as their brand. In other words, Shell Deer Park doesn't not supply every single Shell gas station in Houston with gasoline. Exxon Baytown does not supply every Exxon or Mobil gas station.

Export gasoline from the refineries go into off site tankage; it's traded and sold a half dozen times before the end user even sees it. So the gasoline in each tank tends to be a mixture of gasoline from half a dozen sources. What makes gasoline "branded" are the additive packages that are introduced at the truck loading rack. As the eighteen wheelers loads a cargo of gasoline, there is an extra hose port for the additives required for the end destination of the gasoline. So as the eighteen wheelers loads the gasoline bound for, say a Chevron gas station, it's also adding Chevron gasoline additive right there at the truck. The additive basically mixes with the gasoline in the tank hold of the eighteen wheeler.

So as much as you don't want to support Citgo, the US arm of PDVSA, chances are you already have because gasoline refined from their refineries in Lake Charles and Corpus will have had, at some point, made it to the Houston area.

What you can do is avoid buying at Citgo-branded gas stations.

Kind of a moot point since Chavez died 2 years after OP made this post.

But his successor is equally belligerent, if not a whole lot more idiotic.
