lol what an ordeal. at least he was nice enough to send it back to you! I'm tempted to go show up at the house I know it went to and see if they might have held onto it. But this has happened before with a package and they tossed it immediately so I'm not too hopeful.

I'd say thank goodness the DMV is linked, except that didn't seem to save a thing in my scenario despite both my DMV address and USPS address being correct lol. I guess we'll see what happens.

That’s the easiest/cheapest option go right ahead and buy them now! Also I will say the 701SM is my favorite bike to ride and think you’d have fun on it if your able to up the budget a bit.

Way too much time to think ,,, being retired.
Only problem with wheels is the easiest option would be used SM take off wheels. I can’t find them anywhere right now.

I used to have an xr400 and at one point I got some sumo wheels for it and rode it like that for a while. It was so much fun! Ended up selling that bike though.

    No prob lol
    Damn lol
I think we all agree the Drz is a great bike but for the price of newer ones you can buy so much more of a bike... As the other guys said you can get a pretty nice KTM/husky but ya know I got a klx lol.

Once you go fuel Injected and lighter then a drz then you don't go back lol

Well having issues with dealers and working on the klx... Yes I can work on it but it's a month old and still has a warranty... My dealer I got it from can work on the bike on the 19th but the issue is if they need parts it could put it where I can't go on the Enduro event... So I asked can other dealers do the warranty work if you can't? "Yes any Kawasaki dealer can do your warranty work. Now they can be a butt and put you at the back of the line for warranty work since you didn't buy it from them but they shouldn't deny doing warranty and telling you that you will have to pay out of pocket" so far only one dealer has told me this which is kinda annoying... I'll call a couple other dealers and see. ATM I might have to just go with the dealer I got it from and hope they can get the bike done quickly enough so I can still do the event.

For what it's worth it probably isn't worth the hassle of a dealer. Not for bike being down. Sounds great getting them to "fix" it for free. But all you need to do is clean the bearings and put a proper amount of grease in them.

This. Told my dealer that unless something blows up and it should be warranty they won't be seeing me again. Same with my Toyota dealer when I got the T4R. Both have a follow up ao the or so after the pickup to ask of all was good, and that was it. Gave them both a good rating on the dealer review emails that came in for respecting my wishes.

See if the bike has an actual problem and needs the bearing fully replaced I'd rather them fix it for free because warranty. ATM we will just put grease into it and hope it will be good for the Enduro event.
I don't mind doing warranty work for something that's a month old tbh but I do all my own work with everything else it's just this kinda stuff where it's like man this is brand new come on lol

I felt reassured that the job was done to my liking doing it myself. I cleaned ALL the old grease out with multiple spray outs with kerosene and at the end brake clean, blew it out real well with compressed air and made sure it spun with no notchy feeling. Used a good quality grease and packed the crap out of each bearing. Checked both races to make sure they had no wear or scratches. Been working perfectly since and that feeling has not returned.

I'd be torn as well, brand new bike but also I don't trust a dealership tech to do anything as far as I can throw the bike.

But given a month... I'd have them deal with it.

Have you put the bike on a stand front tire in the air to see how smoothly or not it turns?

Edit - depending on how it felt on the stand i might be inclined to pull things apart and have a look, if races are gouged or notched then put back together and let them deal with it. If it was simply a lack of being clean new adequate grease. I'd clean things and put back together and not deal with the stealership. In the big scheme of things worst case down the road the bearings were in fact bad and you replaced them for like 50$

Damn it!! Now I started researching and watching vids on the husky 701!! It’s the same money (new) as a 600cc sport bike and just a bit less than a gsxr750. It’s obviously more upright and has real good power to weight ratio. I could run it at the ridge at a track day and have fun. It would replace the FZ1 if that ever sells and I can keep the KLX for logging roads and any other off-road adventure. My adhd ocd all that shit is kicking in. Still would like to sell the FZ1 first before I buy anything but I am expanding my options.

Yup if it's something brand new I don't want issue within a month... I want the vehicle to be good for at least a year before I do stuff my own
I get this but buying something brand new and a month in and only so many hours on the bike its annoying and something I don't want to do and shouldn't have to do... I also do not have the tools to remove the bearing i think my buddy has a tool for it but it's for a drz400. So again I don't have the tools to do it.
I haven't put the bike on a stand yet tbh... After coming home from the weekend I've been super busy so it's just been sitting. Last time I messed with it the bike only acted off with weight on it. But I haven't messed with it since so idk yet.

The top bearing should come out without any tools. Afaik they typically just sit up there. The bottom bearing is pressed on the fork stem which is fine leaving it on there for cleaning and greasing.

I almost wonder if everything is just loose.. if it's only doing it sometimes and only with weight on it.. I'd give that top stem nut a twist unladened and see if it moves.

You don’t have to remove the bearing just clean it and grease it up reinstall. You explained exactly the same feeling my bike had. Also before you do any of it lube the clutch and throttle cables.
