I appreciate the offers. It was the excitement of the hunt that had me going. I want to be able to find it somewhere just for the thrill of the score. My wife agreed that we'd do a road trip sometime soon and just hunt bourbons. I'll get my hands on it eventually! And hopefully some other hard to find stuff.

 

There is a lot of talk about these Early Times BiB black caps as opposed to the current release blue caps. I’m here to tell ya…for $36, that black cap is a very nice pour. Soft, no burn, vanilla, brown sugar, a bit of cinnamon mid palate. The dark fruit doesn’t linger, it’s a short finish. Thumbs up!!!

 

I’ve only had Weller SR, which is pretty sweet and I think a better pour than standard Buffalo trace. This 12 year is extremely….mehhh. It just tastes higher proof even though it’s only 90. I was hoping for a sweeter profile. It’s kind of oakey, with a single note mid palate, then it just dies off into nothing special land. I paid $99 for it, which is about $40 too much. Old Overholt BiB and Old Scout Ambler kick its ass. Sorry Weller fans, not for me,

Officially, this is now the best bottle I own! It was $140 at the Cincy airport. Melllow, sophisticated, oak that is subtle, vanilla, caramel, apple, and a hinted of stewed prunes. Man this is good, a thick, lingering finish, man this is soooooooo good. It takes a lot for me to declare a super solid home run…this is Stellar, 10/10

 

That's a good price. I've not tried this one yet, but the Double Wheat wasn't much to my liking. Though I think the Wheated is a stellar pour.

I've got them both (the 7 year, and the old name, whatever that was). I like em for the $$. Cinnamon, vanilla, affordable, and ya know, not painful in the arse like BT Secondary

I turned this cabinet into my bar a couple years ago. It wasn’t my original plan when I bought it, so hopefully the Amish guy who made it won’t be too upset about its change in purpose.

They did. The wine industry went through the screw top thing and after a while, idk that anyone cares anymore.
