Picked up this sweet overlanding trailer with a tent today too. Has trailer brakes, full DOT lighting, an electrical system, water tank and pump, as well as the tent on the top. Tons of storage and pullout drawer and everything. Im going to add a diesel heater and tank at some point. Maybe beef up the electrical a little more

you’re probably the wisest one in this thread. Full circle from desert racer to overlander while the rest of us are figuring out how we can do stupid stuff our trucks never intended …

I bought the trailer specifically so I wouldn’t mess with doing a roof rack or tent on my new truck.

Also, that pool has already been started with all my buddies lol. But I’m traumatized

I think after a bit of mileage off road you're going to want to modify the truck to make it a better tow vehicle. Then you'll have kids and need more space so you'll add a second RTT, or even better a GFC or other clamshell camper and you'll enjoy the adventures that truck takes you on for 15-20 years.

    IMG_0101.jpg

I'll stick around for the truck and trailer build!

O.k...so lemme' tell ya' how this is gonna' go...

    • 1st trip with the new truck and your going to hate the shitty C rated tires & probably tear a sidewall on a rock
    • You're going to buy OE size E rated tires
    • E tires are going to make daily driving feel harsh so now it's time to try to compensate with better shocks that can be custom valved
    • Next trip you're going to want to pull the sway bar because the off-road performance is shit
    • Now you have too much body roll for daily driving so it only makes sense to re valve and f*ck you might as well get your track width wider so here comes the +2 kit
    • Now you can have a little more fun off road but now the OE leafs feel like complete shit so here you go again with a spring under kit & a bed cage
    • "these 31" tires just aren't doin' it " so here come the 35's
    • Now the 35's are dry humping everything in the front wheel wells like a 12 year old that just discovered Porn Hub so here comes the cab mount chop & the JD inner fenders
    • Aww crap my tires are smashing my fenders better cut those now too...
    • My glass looked so much better than these chopped fenders...ring...ring..." hello this is Fiberwerx how may we help you "
    • Now you have to paint all that fiberglass and damn it... now my bumpers don't fit the new glass
    • Here comes the new bumpers front and rear
    • Damn this thing is such a POS towing or driving up hill I really need to re gear it
    • Ugh it's still so slow...
    • Aaaand here comes the LS swap back out of the garage

At the rate I've watched you move and spend $ I'm going to take $100 on 18 months or less.

Double bummer on both toys. But take it as a learning experience. Can do some light mods to make the new truck better just for getting out in the woods and cruising around.

Hopefully kids don’t happen for a while, but your setup is super sweet. I am adding a brake controller, but so far, the truck tows the trailer and doesn't even know its back there, and thats without brakes!
I will for sure blow a sidewall, and when I do I'll put some 33" KO3's on it and call it good. It's got the TRD pro fox shocks, which are fine enough for this thing. ALSOOOO, carmax sold it to me without a sway bar. Theyre paying for a new one to be installed though.

I think some tires will do it for me. Really don’t see myself seeing anything more difficult than the cinders.

yep timing cover leaks are all too common as well. I can’t tell you how many 2GR-FKS’s we had pulled out of cars when I worked at Lexus. There are little check balls in the head that get stuck and cause oiling issues, valve seat issues, oil control solenoid issues. Not a huge deal to me, I have a warranty

The 1GR was a lot smoother and the torque was more linear.

Got my k03’s 285/75/16 today. Including the spare. Also got the trailer brake controller installed. Tomorrow is window tint and paint correction / ceramic coating and we’re calling this thing done. I’m tired of getting sunburnt driving around.
