I care, when I'm looking in the store I avoid stuff I can tell has screw top. With the few I have bought, I've yet to buy anything that I thought was good. Whether it was whiskey or wine.

Then my buddy drops off a bunch of samples....then I mail off a bunch of samples, and ya know, I gotta try and review em.....

I've found a couple of screw tops I like, but generally they are on the lower end, but.....then again, Old GrandDad 117 has a cork, and it's the same low price. Hmmm, room to ponder!

Yep, as evidenced by my picture. Weller only puts corks in the good bottles!

I wouldn’t use a screw top to rate what’s in the bottle.

I absolutely see how screw tops seem to convey “cheap”, but they’ve come such a long way and given that cork goes through the demand/supply problem every now and then, make a good substitute. Maybe better than their plastic brethren which often suffer from sizing issues.

Anyway, my remarks were about the screw top, not the contents.

Exactly, if it taste good on your pallet and it is a pleasure to drink. A screw top or a cork is irrelevant.
I think far too many people get caught up in thinking only high dollar liquors are good or should be the only thing touching their tongue. I’ve tried many
    12 year +’s
that I thought were not pleasurable to the pallet.
Ezra Brooks and Buffalo trace being perfect examples of great quality for relatively low dollars. I’ve witnessed this same occurrence multiple times in the wine world also. Drink what is enjoyable to you and don’t get caught up in the hype.

It’s my understanding that batch 2-4 are the best, this was batch 5, rickhouse 1. Rye spices up front and on the finish, but not over powering. A lot of chocolate notes, most likely due to a small amount of chocolate malted barley. I got this bottle on a blowout sale in Ohio, only $55. Average around this locale is about $75 (only 3 stores have it)

this is very good for the money, cinnamon up front, dark fruit towards the finish. I will absolutely be buying more, thumbs up.

They didn’t used to for Antique 107. Had this one stashed away and just recently opened it. 2018 date code on the bottle.

That's an old bottle, you don't want to drink it. I'll take it off your hands and make sure it's disposed of properly

Why all the hate for the screw tops? One of my new favorites has a plastic screw top.

    Great bottle there.

My only gripe with the screw tops is that they don’t make the same satisfying sounds as a corked bottle does when opening.

alright…. For curiosity sake I had to walk upstairs to the big cabinet to see what I really do have for screw tops. Looks like I only have 3 bottles. All Wellers… The 12yr and SR on the bottom and a A107 in the middle. I’m kind of surprised those are the only ones I see right now. There’s definitely been a few passing through over the years.
