It's a 10 grand fine for cutting an oak down

And it is huge

 

A gift came in the mail. I am very thankful for all of the support and kindness from the group. Your kindness has been helping me through this darkness more than you know.

Now for what was delivered: a pair of socks with French’s Mustard bottles on them. I got a good chuckle out of these.

The trunk is 4 feet in diameter
One branch is about 20 feet long, the other tree is supporting it.
And it is about 40 feet tall.

Someone would notice

 

Almost sounds like what’s in my front yard. Oak that I measured the circumference at over 18 feet. About 60-70’ tall. It’s a squirrel condo and grocery store all in one.

 

This is a scrub oak, smaller variety likes a dry climate. This one is probably 80 to 100 years old

 

Mine is a white oak. Arborist guesstimated 300 years or a little more. I can’t cut it down as the original owner built the house because of that tree and he’d haunt me if I did.

 

Nothing around here is 300 years old, except the mountains. They are steep and the debris flows have wiped out all vegetation at one time or another.

 

Edit they are also called Californian or coastal live oaks

 

Theirs some good ones in there too!

 

You should have committed a violation you could have been checked for weapons.

 

And the good thing about female cops...they have handcuffs.
