My previous work truck was a 2012 3.5l, and I didn't have any issues over six years and 210k miles. However, at that mileage it kind of felt like a time bomb and there's no way I'd throw my own money at it. Drop a turbo and it's basically totaled

I worked on three of them in a row at the dealership, none of that ran well. They look good but... Wasn't a fan

Oh man 3 whole trucks!! Tbh that is not enough to say anything... I know people that say the same thing about Toyotas, Nissan's, Chevy's, dodge and ford since they come into a dealer and get stuff fixed on them. So eh

So my real world experience with 3.5 L. Eco turds means nothing but you reading about some random dude on a forum claiming he has 200k on his is More relevant somehow?

No wonder you bought a Ford :cookiemonster:

Friend of mine regularly insists the current Ranger is the best and most versatile truck on today's market, yet he still hasn't bought one

You and your real world experience is one side the forum no that's just someone putting a number in a text. I know a lot of people with the gen 1 and gen 2 3.5 that have over 200k with zero issues and have been great trucks for them it's all dependent on how someone takes care of the vehicle tbh.

You always love to claim stats or your experience as hard truth and pull other shit from nowhere and always say toyoder be best ever... So no I don't take what you say with anything since you are nothing but a Toyota elitist lmao.

I bought a Ford since it was the nicest truck we drove out of the bunch honestly didn't expect to like it.

Co worker had almost 300k on 3.5 eco. I looked at a few before Tundy but prices were looney on them. I think it’s about the owner, when it comes to most vehicles. Some are poor design though. Every now and then a lemon comes out too.

agreed most modern vehicles can hit 200k if they are taken care of the problem with the ecos from what ive seen is a lot just go off fords recommendation to do an oil change at 10k and some other longer maintenance intervals meanwhile a lot of people have been doing lower intervals and having less/no issues.

i do agree the 3.5 pricing is crazy but did you ever look at the 5.0? that pricing is almost as bad or worse on those trucks!

Pretty much, don’t get the higher mileage oil change. No can do for me. Looked at 5.0 and they were same story price wise s touch less but barely. I needed the extra ability from the 3.5 and like the economy if I was going to back in a Ford again. I also find it funny how over the last 10 years engine sizes started getting or got nearly exactly the same. 4.0. 3.5, 5.7, (4.6,/4.7) to name a few. So many others lol

yup thats my understanding as well with these newer turbo engines.

we looked at a 5.0 and it was a nice and fun truck but the mpg was the killer for us. even the tundras 5.7 seemed to get a bit better mpg then the 5.0 lol. the 3.5 is just pricey tbh like its a neat motor that can get decent mpg and tow very well but man high 30s for trucks with the same miles or more miles with less options then we got lol. plus the main configuration of all the 3.5s we looked at were the crew cab short bed which we didnt want.

i did try for a 3/4 ton truck i had found a 2017 (oddly enough most of the trucks i looked at minus a tacoma was a 17 lol) f250 xl ext cab long bed 4x4 diesel it was a really nice truck but it said call for price. so i went down and drove it and took a look at it but when they told me 48k i very quickly said no thanks thats a lot more then what i was wanting to spend lol.

Exactly what I ran into as well. Even thought about some diesels and did test a few out. Loved them but couldn’t justify the cost and need of that much more capability. Always wanted a diesel and never had one. It’s an itch lol

I mean their paper numbers are pretty cool and the Raptor does look neat. For 70 Grand. It better be one of the best midsize trucks on the market because damn.

Still have that 15-year-old 10-speed design that fails after about 3 days.

    Survivorship bias is a thing.

Imagine calling me a Toyota elitist when half my fleet say Nissan on them.

Besides, it's fun going back and forth with you because you generally don't take shit. You just roll with it and keep going. Good sport
