    I got the opportunity to see that drive in January 2017. Working on a Fibreoptic link from an undersea cable that was making landfall at several remote AK communities along the coast. We were 2 teams of 2. As a canuck, had the experience with cold, and my partner was from LA on the gulf coast. One of our sites was on the south side of the Atigun pass. Had to drive 7hrs in the 4x4 Suburban from Deadhorse thru the pass to Coldfoot, to refuel, then back north about an hour to the diesel powered site, to work for 2 hrs, then drive back to Deadhorse. While my partner got to work inside the shelter, I shoveled out the drift inside the fence so we could park the car close enough to the shelter to plug it in. Brought my avy shovel and snowshoes with me. Only saw the sun creep over the horizon for the last few days I was up there. Got to work in Village of Wainright, and Barrow as well. Being a Canuck, i wasn't allowed to sites on military land/bases. The permitting process would just take too long. Pic is at Barrow. Aurora is from Wainright.
