Costco is so far away that we don't get close to one more than one or two times a year except when my wife goes to see her sister who shops with her. I've been in the stores enough to know what they do and cost. They don't have store memberships for people in remote places that won't shop more than twice a year. We buy butter and cashews, and would buy dried cherries but they have been discontinued. We just don't buy what they are selling cheap because we eat mostly fresh foods and whatever they sell fresh is either sold in bulk we could never use in time or just as expensive as where we already shop. And we only have one prescription and that's paid for by our very excellent insurance. The price of a membership can't be justified for us. The gas and travel time would cost too much.

So yeah... pretty sure I know what I'm talking about and have considered the options and Costco for us is an unnecessary expense.

Sam's club for me, lol. Same but different. We have the plus membership and earn cash on every purchase so our membership ends up being free every year. I get my eye glasses there cheaper than any eye glass place. Hearing aids will be soon. Not as good as Costco hearing aids but not horrible either. We eat fresh food too, veggies every week. Meats are getting high no matter where you go. Pasture raised eggs, yes please. Lol. 90% of our groceries comes from Sam's, the rest from Meijer.

In your situation I agree Costco doesn’t work for you but for those of us who live within a reasonable distance we save lots of $$$. The problem for us is they have so much great stuff at low prices that I spend more $$ on things I could do without. Now I make a list of things to buy and stick to it.
I reread my post, sorry Travir I didn’t mean so come across so stronglyin attack mode. I apologize. My bad. We’re still buds.

    Yup...

I will say that I like the samples they give out at Costco. I remember when all the grocery stores did that.

Only bad thing about the samples is that people are so focused on getting their sample, they forget to look where they are driving their cart and will clip you! LOL Had that happen a couple of times already!

Closest Costco to me is about 35 miles away on the other side of Malfunction Junction :angrygirl: I only go when I'm already close by or when @ my sons house, since they have one about 5ish miles away. I do have a membership but not sure it's worth it.... but I do like their Glucosamine Chondroitin and a few other items and did get my glasses there a few months ago :notsure:. Don't need hearing aids yet....

I'm sure Costco is great, if you live close enough. We don't. I used to drive past one, on the way to work, that was under construction. We retired before it opened. Somewhere along the line, the internet appeared. AMZ has even improved delivery times by warehousing merchandise close by. For groceries, there are a couple name brand stores in a town close by. We order online, go pick up the order. takes about 1hr., gets us out a bit. We would be there getting gas anyway. Never a prob, they load it, take coupons, all the stuff you get in the store. Neither of us care to shop crowded stores, for many reasons, plus I don't know the layout anymore. They change it constantly, can't keep up, and I don't see as well as I use to. Old age is a PIA!

Great tip. I have rechargeable hearing aids and use the dryer every day. I also do a weekly deep clean.

    Never gets old.

I have to add, in the last 5 months Costco has replaced both receivers free of charge even though the warranty has run out. Great service from Costco.

Good morning. Headed to my sisters in Del Mar, MD today to look over some paperwork on a used car she is purchasing. Also headed up to Sudlersville, MD to pick up some $5.00 whole chickens. Going to be a windshield kind of day.

LOL...we have Malfunction Junction in the Tampa Bay area... it is where I-4 and I-275 meet. We also have big bridge that is known for traffic jams at rush hour. Back in the day when radio stations had real traffic reporters, one of the traffic guys coined the term..."Car Strangled Spanner".

Good morning and happy Friday, all! Headed to the farm for the weekend. Haven't been there in a couple weeks now...I forget what remains to be done...LOL. It will all come back to me. Yikes.

It’s going to be another fine day, that is, after kettlebells!
I’ll have to admit Friday the 13th has been bad and good to me. First marriage was Friday the 13th the day before Valentine’s Day. 7 years later after a miserable failing marriage, Friday the 13th, day before Valentine’s Day I got home after work and found a note on the table. She left me for a young artist…NICE! I rushed back to the jewelry store I had stopped and bought her a diamond necklace at. Got my money back. Went to a local bar and had a fun night dancing and buying everyone drinks. Luckiest day of my life to that point!

Have a great day all you old farts and enjoy every minute possible!
