Did you get the back gauge option? I hear that's the one a lot of people have trouble with.

 

It's true. But I think I would have spent more money making that design I was working on last year! LOL. I am pretty excited to get it going.

Yes - the back gauge option is COMPLETELY disassembled. As in I don't think there are even a pair of parts pre-assembled. Smart for keeping the cost down, I guess... I think they only missed one piece on my tooling order!

 

I know tooling and back gauge sets were on short supply as their supplier has been dragging ass

What I found to be awesome is how Langmuir will make their tooling available for retail sale after all Titan orders are complete

Depending on price, I may just take that opportunity to make my own press brake like I mentioned before

Half of what is amazing about this thing is how cheap the tooling is compared to even that Turkish company you found. Really a steal. and looks pretty good, so far. We'll see how they line up on the holder when I put it together, and if they live up to their pressure rating.

 

Awe no way, from afar the tooling looks really good but I did see what I thought was an amazing price (for tooling) in a random post on the Langmuir forum.

Anyone using the Woodward fab tube bender? It seems they only have a 6” CLR die for 1 3/4” tubing, will that work for most projects (bumpers, cage, etc)?

 

my jd2 model 32 die for 1 3/4" tube is 5.5" clr. you will need to bend a test piece an use that to measure an layout your bends, but no reason that I can see it would not work

Is anyone here currently using a laser welder or have you spent enough time with one to feel like you can give a professional opinion?

What do you like about them? What don't you like?

 

what's the specs on the torsion bar/setup that you're running? i'm starting to grow concerned that my trailer build will need one with top-heavy loads...

 

Are you referring to the black bars on the hitch? Those are just braces because it's a 16" drop hitch. Wanted to take some load off of the receiver. They also take all of the slop out of the hitch.

a 3/8" capable multi-process welder for the kickstarter price of $430? they've even got a plasma cutter as an only $150 add-on.

it's less than $1000 fully-optioned to get a plasma cutter, mig, tig-lift w/ foot pedal, and spool gun options in the package.

and it's yeswelder, which has an actual production history, vs most other kickerstarter campaigns that have zero history of delivering the product.

heck, i'm thinking about it. i know the mig pulse is a little gimmicky, but can help with timing, but having the tig and spool gun options would be really cool.

 

I need some flanges to hold 608 bearings (22mm diameter skate board bearings). I was planning on getting some .375" mild steel cut from send cut send but it's most likely going to be a bad fit.

I don't have access to a lathe. This isn't a precision part, I just don't want them to rattle. Any ideas?

 

Mag drill with annular cutting bits. I've never seen more clean and precisely cut holes, and I have a fairly low end mag drill in the grand scheme of them

 

The duty cycle isn't great but it would be more than adequate for me.

agreed. but that's part of the cost difference between this and expensive pro-series welders. i'm learning that most of the duty cycle stuff, especially on lower end welders like this is more of an ideal engineering/lawyer concept than a reality. i've far exceeded the duty cycle specs on my eastwood and never had an issue with it's performance.

i'm still leaning towards the primeweld mig285. it's larger, but has similar upgrade features, and a thicker welding capacity. if i was starting out again, the yeswelder would be a nice introduction to those processes, but for my primary mig process, it's a lateral move with a bunch of fancy features i'm not sure i really need.

 

Ah, the sway bar, my bad.

Company is TK-1 Racing. Owner of the company is great. Started out as a machine shop making custom airplane suspension parts, and has expanded into the off road racing space.

His sway bars are priced very similar to antirock stuff, but I believe the TK-1 is a better built and smarter system. Tons of adjustability and options. Width, arm length, link length, heat treatment level of the main bar....the list goes on.
He has a few paragraphs on his website that describe how to design your sway bar kit. If recommend reading that, taking all of the necessary measurements on your trailer, and then giving him a ring. Hell "build" the kit for you on the phone. I started out with his trophy truck kit and altered it from there to fit my specs. For a trailer, you're probably going to start with what I believe he calls his rally car kit.
