That’s one hell of a crew!

 

Another day without power. It’s a relatively nice day, but hot. Not terrible, but not what you want when you’re have no choices. I went get haircut, visit hardware store for general items, cords, etc. refilled jerrycans, visited Brazilian marketplace/bakery, changed generator oil/filter/sparkplug and mowed the lawn.

 

My high rate of speed story involves no “allegedly” - it was fact. I was returning from college and it was probably around midnight on a double lane, plus shoulder single direction of elevated roadway (over water/swamp). I was traveling as fast as the 1978 Toyota Corolla (mustard yellow 4door manual) could go. I suspect I was around 125-130. The speed limit back then was double nickel. I slammed on the brakes and skid for a good bit when I passed the lights-out cop at probably near 100. He wrote me a ticket for 85 and said I needed to go home and immediately pay it. I if I challenged the ticket he would see that I was buried under the jail. By law he could arrest me, and impound the vehicle for anything over 75. My buddies and I were just happy he didn’t search. One of them was carrying and we had partaken earlier in the ride.
