Wiring up aftermarket fog lights. Based on the amp draw from the lights, I will be connecting this four pin switch to a relay.

My question is, can I wire the switch such that it (the switch )is always illuminated regardless if the lights are on?

It depends on the switch. Some switches only allow for illumination when on.
What switch doe you have? Did it not come with a generic diagram?

It is technically designed to be illuminated only when on. It's just a typical four pole single throw.....I figured though if it could be done it would have to be through/at the relay? I just think constant illumination would be good.

Or maybe illumination when it's off

The contacts for the light are inside the switch.
You'd have to physically open the switch and modify it.

Without knowing what switch, it's a guess.
    Show us the switch.

I have one's similar to that. When my regular driving lights are on the "zombie lights" light up, when I turn on the off-road lights the Zombie symbol on top lights up.

OP, swap the wires that provide fused power to and from switch. But be aware that depending on where you decide to tap (ign or battery) to the relay you'll have a battery drain.

Thanks.....so if I want to wire this thing up to work only when the key is on (i.e. don't accidentally run down my battery) it should look something like this.PXL_20240917_012946218.jpg

If you want the switch to illuminate with dash then #3 goes to green wire of any nearby switch.
Only the relay should get fused power from battery to pin 30.
If you swap the wires at the switch like I show here, as soon as you get the vehicle ON, the switch will light up, but it won't let you know the added circuit is ON.
Black can go to ground or to dash dimming from nearby switch green with white stripe.

Are you referring to 85 and 86?

Switch illuminated upon IGN juiced. Still no indication circuit is selected or not.

Thanks for the help. I'm not to worried about indication if it's on or not. At night it will be pretty obvious if it is on or not, and during the day I can look at the switch and physically see how far the switch is and or out of position.

Just for curiosity sake, my wiring diagram (without your change)that I posted would have made the illumination of the switch only when the switch was on?

    Yes.
You can test the various positions with fused power and ground before installing it.
