40HP or smaller would be nice at times for me as well and I've thought about selling mine and buying one but I've got a really good low hour tractor and it works for what I do. I've put 200 hours on it in 8 years, should be less than that in the next 8 since I gave up a bush hogging job that was putting most of the hours on it.

Im all in on the tractor, full maintenance to the tractor, mower, and boom pole for under 5k at this point. I'm calling that a win assuming the tractor lasts a few seasons.
Especially compared to new (or even slightly used) tractor costs.

Bingo, 5 acres. Maybe a tiller in the next couple years to start a decent sized garden. Probably going to pick up a 250 gal liquid tote from FB market place real cheap and build a small utility trailer to drag it around the property to water trees. 25HP is more than enough for my current situation.

Am I jelly of the bigger tractors posted here? You bet your ass I am!

    Six5c,
Yeah man a good tractor is the most important part. & we all want more HP.

ASB: you have a fine machine there that should last many years.

My current tractor is great, but as Six said... Sometimes it's too much for the yard. I miss that 2601B for overall around the place stuff.

But my favorite tractor is still a B3200. just the ultimate mix of big & small enough at the same time.

My friends/neighbors that farm for real.... They all have real tractors. They still call my tractor a toy.

I keep the wood outside my garage and carry in as needed. The splitting process drives away the critters and I try to only split one seasons worth at a time in early Fall. Those two things combined, not much seems to move into my wood pile before it gets burned by Spring.

Pressure washed the shit out of the 24 HP Kawasaki. No pun intended.

Loosely assembled the housings and filled with 2.5 qts. If used oil.

Factory oil capacity is 2.2 qts with oil filter, but that's not either here or now.

Let the engine sit on the bench for 4 hours. I did not bench run it, but was prepared to do a test run if no leakage was detected.

Prognosis: 20240913_194806~2.jpg the governor shaft seal is FUBAR.

The main crank seal shows no sign of leakage.

The 1st pic is of the oil slick on the workbench.

    20240913_194806~2.jpg 20240913_195036~2.jpg

The last pic is of the oil leaking from the shaft seal down the secondary crank case.

The circled in green is showing no oil leaking from the crank main seal.

Please explain in detail with pics on replacing the governor shaft seal. I acquired a Cub Cadet 33” walk behind that mowed my yard really good, until I got on the hill, then oil poured out of that seal!

    Lol.

I've never done it, but it's just a seal. I'm just gonna dental pic out the old one and press on a new one.

Of course I need to remove the governor arm after I scribe the original position.

I'll send updates after I get the seal.

I just picked up a 2601 , looking for the perfect yard tractor that does big snow removal.

The B7200 is a bit small, the others are a bit big (OR WAY TOO BIG) But I keep 'em around anyway.

I run my JD 5 foot mower off my Massey 47`10. 100hp road, 88hp pto. Overkill, but it doesn't bog down :)

Left over from previous JD 1830 tractor.

I did the same, used a dental pick to remove it but the new seal did not want to go back in.

The new trailer I got doesn’t have any tie down points. Any recommendations for adding some? I could either drill the frame and bolt some on or I could try to find someone to weld some on for me.
