I'm interested in the cost of a new assembly for my 99 v6 4x4 manual hub truck. It's time to replace the bearings and I don't have the tools to this myself. Can I get a qoute on what it would cost and if you need the cores?

    Hey zipp,
Just wanted to take a minute to give you some feedback on the manual hub OEM "blue label" CVs you built up for me: beautiful work! My rig sees so much high water that I have deemed it necessary to seal the CV boots at the seams with UltraBlack to help keep water/moisture out. I learned that valuable lesson quite a few years back when my '97 V6 Taco was a lot younger by ruining a pricey set of new OEM CVs when I did not think it necessary to seal them against the deep sandy mud/high water I routinely wheeled thru. In the picture below, the CVs you sent me are on the inside all set up and sealed ready to install with the old well-worn CVs that were replaced on the outside. The old set of OEM remans. lasted thru 6 years of use/abuse including approx. 800-900 days of off-roading fun. No evidence of water intrusion on the old CVs which were also sealed with Ultrablack, the boots are still very serviceable, so the old CVs can function as emergency spares if needed. Everything has been back together for a couple weeks now, the new CVs are working nicely with 3" of lift with an auto locker & CV bushing in the ECGS front diff., so I call this front-end refresh done. But I will do my level best to wear out this new set of reman. OEM CVs over the next 6 years. Appreciate it, hope you are healing up well, and thanks again!

Leid, thanks so much for the feedback. I think your level of care and maintenance is what makes the difference in part longevity. You have a wealth of knowledge and experience gained only through time. Enjoy and let me know if there is anything else I can do to help out.

Curious on how you go about getting the cage and balls into the outer joint?
When I've gone to disassemble them, I always end up cutting the cage

It is super low tolerance but if you rotate the cage to remove each ball one by one then rotate it 90 degrees. There is small sweet spot where the cage can drop out.

Hm. Maybe I didn't try enough different positions, but the balls didn't seem like they wanted to come out in any position. I'll keep that in mind for if there's a next time.

Hey @zippsub9, your work looks great! I’m looking at getting my front end rebuilt, and if you could quote me for a steering knuckle with wheel bearing and reinforced spindle gusset. It’s going on a 99 Tacoma non abs, auto 4wd

@zippsub9 and anyone else that has installed these, Jason included two seals, part no. 90080-30028. I thought these were the dust seals for the back of the spindles' mating surface with the CV's but after watching this and checking a related thread, I wasn't so sure.

EDIT: I answered my own question with the above thread, any comments on how people installed them are certainly welcome. Thanks.

It is a snug friction fit on the outboard of the CV. I use a small bit of lube to ease it on. I use a PVC pipe or wooden dowel to lightly tap them on. The rubber seal is the most important piece to avoid tearing. The thin metal lips can be bent back if bent or damaged without issue. It overlaps with the backside of the knuckle metal lip seal.

Can I buy just a drivers side spindle with the bearing pressed in? I just broke my spindle on the trail last weekend so the hub is fine.

Can I get a quote for a rebuild on 4cyl manual hubs with CVs, ball joints and gussets? I have cores with factory CVs if that is needed.
