    Talkative crowd for a Saturday morning.

    Hung all my new cabinet doors this morning. Still need to adjust them to OCD standards and my door pulls should be here Monday. And all before a coffee...which I'm about to rectify cause I got my car back from storage yesterday now that my garage bay is finally empty. Counter top guy coming to template this week.

    Since I'm down here, this is the original oil boiler/furnace to the house (1968). It's both heat and hot water, no hot water tank. It's been serviced annually for as long as I can remember. Still running at 85% efficiency. I have a contract with a local company for auto-fill. As part of that I get a "free" annual cleaning/service. I've had the same technician for 15+ years. He says "don't ever get rid of this thing, it's bullet proof". My house is about 1500 sq ft (ranch) and I still only burn about 650 gallons of oil per year for heat & hot water.

    I clean ours out every spring. I have about a 15' run under a slab. So I use one of the rotating brushes on a stick type thing. The wife sits in the utility room with a shop vac while I work outside feeding it in. We talk on our phones so we can communicate.

    There did seem to be a little, yes. All I have is some spray lithium grease. I may hit a couple of spots and let it spread.

    Seriously I’d think twice.
    Hot air thins out that stuff. I’d rather just put the seal on and let it go.

    No joke, I used my "beater" 1" wood chisel to scrape off the old chunks of adhesive.

    @FlyingWolfe

    Ants have been terrible in my two
    feeders this year in the back yard. The hummers don't seem to care. But there were deads ants by the hundreds always floating in the nectar and I can only imagine that they would decay like any other organic material. I was constantly changing the nectar.

    So I broke down and bought some of those ant moats. We'll see how they do.

    The ones not hanging on the trees are fine.

    Mine was bulletproof too until it wasn’t.
    So had to get this just before Christmas.

    Looks like a cool steampunk machine. I dig it.

    From 1949 until 1987 my grandmother's house was heated with oil. When I was a young kid in the early 70s I would go down in the basement to play and that thing was spooky. It was a heavy gauge steel construction in a dull reddish color and it had this submarine looking port glass with bolts all around it that would glow orange when it was running. That thing would gurgle, pop and "breath"...almost like it was alive. That thing seemed huge and mean. I would sometimes get scared of it and run upstairs.

    Pro Tip. The plastic on outside dryer vents isn't of the highest quality. Mine is in the sun for a good part of the day. I clean it and the parts a few times a year and treat with 303 protectant. Pic was pre leaf blowing.
