Honestly, just pony up the extra $600. Not for the insulation itself, but they are a better built door. Mine is an insulated 2" thick door and very well built. It was a special size at 6' 9" (heh) high and 9' wide so it was a little salty at $1800, but worth it.

Yesterday at work we were looking at some pictures on a feller's phone and he said, "here's a picture of me when I was younger"
To which I replied, "every picture of you is a picture when you were younger".

Let me tells you about my absolute disaster of a 2024.

In January I get married, which dipped into savings just a little bit.

In March I find a new job that doesnt pay any different, but it does quadruple my commute.
So... in April I put a hefty down payment on a commuter car so that I'm not destroying my truck. That dipped into savings a little more.

In May I get a freak hailstorm that wrecked two cars. Two deductibles from savings... byeee.
Oh, and it also killed my roof. What's another 6 grand in deductibles amongst friends?

And then in July, my kitchen sink decided it was going to empty itself into every room somehow.
The plumbing fix only cost me a couple hundred to DIY it, but the floors are going to cost me 3k...also if I DIY it. That one is pending.

After arguing with insurance, roof got installed in August, gutters and doors replaced in September. And when the contractor asked, at this point... I'm like gimme that contractor grade quality, baby.

Im grateful at least that thus far the only things that went on credit are a small balance remaining on the car... and the wife. At least both of those are returnable.

Well, at least the car is returnable.

    When it rains it pours....

A year ago our ice maker line decided to bust under the house but it never thought to tell me that it busted, no idea how long it was spraying water. Months maybe? :notsure:

    And now....
My kid is getting married Saturday, the rehearsal dinner will cost us more than a guided hunt in Africa and......we're buying an acre next door to keep riffraff from camping out on it.
We're riffraff too but we dont want riffraff that we dont know storing their go cart frames and blue tarps all over the joint.
