Tacoma is pulling right after two alignments, a tire change and a tire rotation.

Hi everyone,

new to Tacomas - bought a 2014 SR 4.0 litre 4x4, and the alignment needed to be done. I noticed it pulling left; got it back and it was pulling right. The tires were basically bald so I put on some used but not overly used KO2s. Brought it back in and the owner said he fixed it and adjusted it to spec (attached photo), but continued to pull right. Brought it back in and they rotated the tires, but still pulls right. Any advice?

 

I would look into the condition of the ball joints and tie rod ends on the passenger side. What road was this pull to the right on, was it curved so the water runs off the sides? Is this Tacoma lifted at all, any suspension mods at all?

 

Suspension may have issues that can only be detected when loaded.

Ultimately, some tires pull, and KO2's that are used can likely be the cause.

Some mud terrains actually warn that regardless of direction they will pull right.

I think if the suspension checks out, you gotta live with this until you get new tires.

 

Tried it on all types of roads - flat, ones that slope left, highways, etc. always pulls right. No lift, all stock. Bought it off a lady who just drove it to work and had one year of pulling a trailer

 

damn, that sounds very annoying! I’m hoping it’s an easy fix but living with it sounds hella frustrating.

 

Where do you live and what type of roads do you drive? How crowned are the roads? Does it pull on all type of roads or only some? Is it pulling or is the steering wheel off? Depending on the condition of the tires and roads the only thing slightly suspect in the numbers would be toe and very little caster. I would want to see total toe about negative .125 and steering wheel straight. Then more positive caster and keeping camber 0 to -.5 max. The current caster is good for slow speed use and will give a lighter steering feel compared to high caster numbers would but it leaves it more sensitive to road conditions and tire issues. See if they can get caster closer to positive 3.5 (if you have crowned roads keep the right side slightly higher than the left) and keep camber 0 to -.5max

 

Vancouver, BC - 2-3 percent crowned. Pulls on all roads.

Okay I'll suggest that to the mechanic!

 

I have a similar issue, but more because I have a lift, AT tires, and nothing I do gets rid of the slight drift to the right on crowned roads. On nice flat highway, it will drive straight without touching the steering wheel so I've concluded it's the AT tires and crowned roads.

 

Right - I can understand the drift on crowned roads but it'll do it on nice flat highways too. There are no roads where the damn thing drives straight. I have KO2 tires.
