Is this one "too cheap" at $20? https://www.scheels.com/p/my-medic-...-SPL-BLD.html#q=tourniquet&lang=en_US&start=1

This one ($35) mentions "US Army Institute of Surgical Research" ... anyone can choose a name though: https://www.scheels.com/p/my-medic-...-SPL-BLD.html#q=tourniquet&lang=en_US&start=2

The first one / rats style is a lot thinner, which means you will have to work harder and it will hurt more.

Ive never heard of the second one.

North American Rescue CAT is the standard.

Those are both probably fine, but I just go by the advice of some prior service members who use the North American Rescue C-A-T

    https://www.narescue.com/combat-application-tourniquet-c-a-t.html

And then there's YouTube videos of how to "stage" them (a folding method where you basically have it ready to rock immediately) and they're easy to stash places.

I roll with this one because heaven forbid someone else needs to grab mine and use it, it's the most likely for someone who was previous service to be able to immediately figure out.

    North American Rescue or GTFO...

You can have the best gear on the planet, but it doesn't mean anything unless you know how to use it...take a wilderness first aid class at minimum.

On LAPG site now, card ready. I too think that just having it onsite for at least an off-duty nurse to use makes more sense than me using, But I will try if everyone else is just recording the dying victim with a cell-phone.

Ordered from NARescue, not that LAPG would be inferior quality. Now to find a "wilderness medicine" training.

Look up the Wilderness Medicine Training Center. They are who my most recent certificate was through
They have several levels of courses available from Wilderness First Aid up to a full on Wilderness EMT

9ish inches and regarding the weight I didn't really notice it on the trip back from MT if anything the truck drove better with the weight on the rear. GFC is probably the best option for the 4cyl because it's so light at 270lbs not to mention strong. Others are closer to 400-500lbs

Understood about multiple. Made me rethink after buying the single from "NARescue" instead of the required minimum 2 from LAPG. But still have one now, and will likely just stay in my emergency gear pack which is in the truck, not the house.

My Super Pacific weighs 350lbs but its also 20" longer than a GFC so I dont have to remove my sleeping platform to pass through/I have a longer sleeping area or "nightstands". Just as strong.. more attention to detail and thought in design.. no crossbars in your way.. seals better.. etc.

And a significantly larger price of admission...all depends on what's important to you, which is why there are so many great options out there.

Yeah I have those as well and I'd 100% grab one before a tourniquet. Waaaay less likely to cause issues.

I need to take a medical course that isn't a drunk army medic listing off all the "shit I need to know" by a campfire but yeah.

A lot of bleeding is better served by a clean dressing and constant pressure.

Isreal bandage are great to have and more likely to be used in most situations but Its not a replacement for a tourniquet. military individual first aid kits contain both for a reason. You can't put a tourniquet on someone's torso for instance and a bandage isn't going to create enough pressure to stop the stump of a missing arm/leg from bleeding.

    Tourniquets save lives not limbs

Ive got a handful of cousins in Show Low so at least I've got blood ties to AZ.
How close are you? If you're ever in the neighborhood stop on by.

I've got family in Washington, St George, Santa Clara, La Sal, Moab and Blanding so pretty well covered anywhere in Southern Utah
