Rear sliding window, intermittent wiper switch, center console tray, glove box organizer shelf, WeatherTech front mats and mud flaps, 3D MaxSpider behind-the-front-seats mat, bed lights, MESO climate control rings, XPEL tailgate protection, Desertdoesit.com seat jackers, RAV4 radio knobs, glove box letters.
My '20 didn't have intermittent wipers so I installed them after the fact. Very easy.

I also don't have the rear seats.

I asked the dealer service mgr about adding them after the fact and he said it would cost about $300 or more at the time so we never looked into it further. I did add the backup camera rear view mirror from Gentec since I had the camera in the tailgate but no display. Dealer wanted $695. Gentec was making them at the time and had the larger auto dimming model for just over $300.

After the fact Cruise Control cost me $25 and about 15 minutes of time. Super easy! (Have not done the intermittent wipers. Haven't need them in 7 years.)

    Snaeper,

I noticed you have the ARE MX cap with the windoors, how did that work out with leaks at the windows and corners of the bed? I got a Leer 180 with the windoors and front removable slider last year for my new SR after having the same cap on a 2009 that got totaled The new one had fewer problems with the windows and windoors but just developed a leak thru its 3rd brake light. I had previously put some weather stripping in the outside front corners that mostly fixed the corner leaks. The choice between ARE and Leer was kind of a toss up. Different dealer this time did a better installation. Colormatch on the new Leer in Magnetic gray not great but neither was the 2009 Pyrite Mica.

I like the color of yours, is that a clear coat color?

Also, if you ever hit a large hidden rock or super hard hidden log that bends the rim, at least the steel rims can be bent back / straightened out. Alloy rims will be toast.
(Anything to help justify not spending more money.)

Were you able to score this as a brand new purchase? I've wondered if there are any more leftover 3rd gens out there to be had on a deal.

My 2020 SR/convenience package came standard with intermittent wipers. I had planned on it not, so it was a nice surprise that I didn't have to spend money to upgrade

No, she’s used. A previous fleet truck which I was fine with. She definitely has some creature comforts (intermittent wipers, adaptive cruise control, CarPlay, etc) but overall pretty basic which is exactly what I wanted.

3.5L 4x4 Not really an SR these days. I’ve got 175k miles on it and who knows how many engine hours…the truck idles throughout the day, to keep my laptop cool, while I work all summer. Is there a way to look up the engine hours?

Good question, I'd be curios as well. Like seeing these trucks being worked and used as intended with little reported trouble. With proper maintenance though. Lol....

I stopped by one of my local Toyota dealers after dinner. Walking the lot they had between 30-40 Tacomas in stock. The average price seemed to be around $47k, with the lowest being $40k and the highest $56k. Keep in mind the vast majority of those were SR5s. I didn't see a single SR on the lot. I'm a fan of the design of the 4th Gen Tacoma but at those prices I'll be holding onto my 3rd Gen SR for a long time. I prefer the analog gauges, old school door locks and ignition with keys, naturally aspirated V6 and so on. Between the controversial new drivetrain and the ridiculous prices I think a lot of us will stick with our 3rd Gen Tacos. Have any of you been tempted to trade in for a 4th Gen?

I’m perfectly happy with the 3rd gen. I’m a firm believer in keeping paid off vehicles and maintaining them with OEM parts. I don’t think I am willing to spend 50k on a new truck. I hope to get 500k miles out of this 3rd gen I have.

$27,500 OTD paid in 2020 for an AC SR 4x4 with convenience package... I searched high and low for a deal and that's the best I could manage. I sacrificed paint color for price. I really didn't want black at all. $40k for essentially the same vehicle is out of control.

Fast forward almost 5 years, now there are no deals to be made. The way I have purchased 10 brand new vehicles is completely different now.

I grabbed an SR for some of the reasons you mentioned. Mainly I wanted a 15-20 year vehicle that was easy to maintain, fairly cheap, and reliable. I feel like that's exactly what I got. I can't see myself trading that in on a new platform that is unknown.

I feel as if most SR/SR5 owners are in the same situation. They know exactly what they bought and exactly why they bought it. The Offroad/Trail hunter/tech package/Bro/Sport guys are looking for something different and will have no issues trading their 3rd gens in for a 4th Gen

I'm free and clear on this thing and I'm hoping to get about 15-20 years out of it... Completely happy with my decision to get this truck when I did. Personally I have no plans on "upgrading" to the new platform.

Financially and mechanically I feel like it would be a big mistake for me.

My 2019 sr5 has all I need, minus the stickers. One pull of a lever slides my seats, a twist of a knob does the back of seat, I’m happy. Also still hangin on to my 02 sr5 4X with 271,000+ with no major problems. Hopefully with the same maintainence as it has had the 19 will probably outlast me being an ol fart
