Years ago we were driving home from a nearby town, and happened to be following a fairly nondescript sedan.
We live on a road with few houses, so when we turned off the main road a couple turns before ours, I realized it was our next door neighbor.
However, she didn't turn into her driveway - drove right by. I assume she was nervous and thought she was being followed.
A couple minutes later, once we were in our driveway, I saw that she had turned around and come back. Never did get around to asking her about it.

On the off chance I get a little lost and have to turn around in someone's driveway, I always wave to no one in particular. My wife asks who I'm waving to. I say exactly. Nobody came out charging with a gun, because I waved.

I also say friendly when entering other people's houses or garages. Friendly fire is still fire.

I never go in anybody's house without knocking and them coming to the door. Not even my parents if we stop by.

My wife and I hadn't been married long and we had a woman and her daughter stop by the house. They just came on in without even knocking.

That was almost 14 years ago and I lock the house behind me when I go in o_O

It does work, but this platter is not in good enough shape for me to spend a lot of time on it. Time to find some buffing wheels for the drill! I soaked it last night for about an hour in some hot water with vinegar and baking soda with a piece of aluminum foil in it, cleaned it up decently.

The buffing wheel on the drill sounds like a winner to me. I have to admit, slow effects on the elbow grease tactic wore out my patience :anonymous:

Looking good @RustyGreen  Are you cutting the patches yourselves? About how many spots? (sorry if I missed it).

It reminds me of the story the guys who did my leafs told me.

    They used to repair frames.

Their story goes - a guy comes in and doesn’t have much money who needed to pass inspection. He had a rotted frame and they fixed something llike 4-5 areas for only $200, They told the guy it would pass for this year only and he should junk the care befor the following winter.

The business gets sued when the vehicle failed two years later. No, they didn’t put the disclaimer in writing but they prevailed in court anyway.

The current owner worked at the shop for about 15 years then bought it about 5 years ago. It was his biggest screw up but acknowledges the mistake he made. He said it was a very steep learning.

I’m sure there’s still pockets where a handshake still means something, or at least I hope there is…

    Happy Tuesday everyone :hattip:

Most legit places that inspect vehicles here in Pennsylvania wouldn't pass a frame even with nice patches. I think it's allowable, but not many want the liability. Now, there is places out in the sticks that will slap a sticker on there, but everyone is well aware of what is going on an hush-hush. Have I done it? Yea, once. I needed to buy time to get a legit sticker, but it was way too far gone after cutting into it.

Good morning crew, update on the Big Ass Fan, still in the box's. Electricians are waiting on the sky lift that was supposed to be there after lunch, but no show. Maybe today with us working inside because of the rain.
    Stay tuned.

Good morning friends! Have a blessed day :hattip:

We've had a lot of wind and some rain from the storm, last night about 8:45ish I'm guessing a tree fell on the line and with the wind blowing it somehow kept making the power go off. It would go off for less than a minute, stay on for about 2-3 then go back off. It finally went off to stay about 10:10

I woke up around 2:00 and it was back on so I got up and reset the dish washer, the coffee pot, and turned the dryer back on for the 114th time.

I'm thankful it came back on so quick living where we do with the wind and rain :hattip: <---to all the people who keep the lights on

    North Carolina coast got hammered.

I've got a generator on my welder I can run the house with, I wasn't going out to fight the storm to hook it up though.

If it had still been off this morning I would have though just to keep the fridges/freezers cold (1 in house, 1 in shop). We haven't had the A/C on in 2 weeks, thankfully :D

Good morning manly men :hattip: moving slow this morning...

I'm doing this (charity  ) for an old friend, we go back a long way. He doesn't have the budget for a replacement truck so we are trying to get a few more years out of this one for him. The GM "protective coating", a rubber like material, seemed to do more damage than good along with drain holes that were about 3/16"... o_O

Fortunately only two areas require attention.
The photo is the passenger side, the inner side (boxing panel) was of lighter metal than the C section frame - I worked a piece of 1/4" behind it, bolted & welded.

The fuel tank is on the driver side and the damage is more extensive there. He bought a repair section that was well made but we weren't all that impressed with the fit for the money.
