F1 TV subscription is pretty cheap and access to historical race and analysis is fantastic. Huge bonus is you don't have to listen to the Sky Sports everything British fanboys.

I read somewhere that they changed the commentators starting this last race. They went over the "annoying as hell" fence, so for the first time, I muted the volume for the race.

 

David Croft is not doing all the Sky F1 races this season , that was announced before this season started

As a side note I would rather listen to Danica Patrick than Jacques Villeneuve though

I had to fast forward through the pre-race

 

The calling of the race was well done IMO. Pre- and post-race stuff was worse than usual, but it's always bad to some degree. Ted's Notebook is much better, focused more on the tech and less on the glitzy fanboy fluff.

 

Way way too much pointless talking during the race. I don't know who the commentator was, but he just needed to be heard, what he was saying wasn't even accurate. I thought Karun was ok.

 

The same ever expanding schedule that drivers complain about being too busy has the commentators criticizing the driver complaints working only partial scheds so they have a home life. Sky has a continuous rotation of commentators.

Note how Sky had their main pre and post race commentators in a British sound stage for many of the early races.

Personally, I like Jacques and his straight shooter, no BS, off the cuff, calling a spade a spade commentary.

Karun is good, Anthony Davidson has to be taken with a grain of salt because of his Merc sim driver duties. Burney Collins, if left to her own is very good. Kravtz is unlistenable swarmy pom. Brundle has become a characture of himself.

 

Just watched the race.

Drivers universally condemn Max's community service punishment for bad language during a press conference. Post quali, Max limits his responses to questions while in the F1 paddock and later provides more detailed answers to the press outside the official PR paddock.

Hamilton took exception the the F1 directive comparing drivers swearing to rap singers swearing. Lewis calls the comment racist because most wrappers are black. My take, Lewis is reading too much into it.

Starting grid says to me gonna be aggressive jockeying............let us see what.........MB guys do and Ferrari kids wanting to go from 9-10 up to 4-5 ASAP. Let alone the the 1-2 jokers.

Danny Ric was a huge thing for F1, he will be missed on the grid for his personality and he definitely had some great driving moments over the years
