Gen3 to Gen4 Compatibility Forum

Had an accident with my 2022 TRD Off Road Tacoma (total loss) and I'm getting a 2024 TRD Off Road. I have some aftermarket/OEM accessories and want to know if they'll fit the new model.

Mainly, is my Gen 3 Softopper compatible with the 2024? I'm concerned the rear view camera might be blocked. Also, do the OEM weatherproof mats and predator steps fit the 2024?

Only thing I found compatible so far is my bed cover, bed mat but I have to do some trimming on it. Front Rough Country seat covers. Rims that were on my 17 won’t fit and some rock sliders won’t fit. Trd skid plate won’t work and Toyota mudguards won’t work. The bug deflector I had wouldn’t work.

 

Someone else recently posted their soft topper was not compatible. You can always try though. Suspension is very different. Most things are different and are not compatible between 3rd and 4th gen.

 

Just like everything else in this world… nothing is as simple as it seems. With working with my claim agent it’s interesting to find out what actually adds value and what doesn’t. For example my softopper, which cost $800+ would only add around ~$200-$300 dollars if I included it in the total loss. Overall (taxes and fees included) I was quoted over $41,000 for my 2022. Long story short, well built vehicles hold their value. Short story long, don’t total your taco. Look both ways - and look both ways again cuz people will blow red lights

Lunar Rock was one of my favorite colors. Especially liked it on the TRD OR 4Runners.

What color are you choosing on the 4th gen?

 

Also forgot to mention, the dashcam adapter won’t work either. But they do have an adapter for the 4th gen . It’s on back order for a few weeks.

 

Lunar Rock was my all-time favorite too —it not to out there but subtle enough to not draw attention (aka the new bright orange color).

Now, I’m leaning toward Bronze Oxide, but it's hard to find. My second choice is Underground because it has that matte, wet-paint look, similar to Lunar Rock. Anything besides white or black, just not a fan.

 

does the adaptor decrease the resolution? Also did it cost an arm and a leg?

 

No, it just powers the dashcam when the truck is running. It gets power from the auto dimming mirror.

 

The only things I kept from my 3rd gen are molle panels for the accessory rails and stuff to go in the trailer hitch (diode dynamics pod light). I sold my softopper but I can’t wait to get the new one for the 4th gen

 

The digital review camera will be blocked by a topper. However, the Smartcap has a window for it, so it's only partially obscured. There is a relocation kit made by GGoffroad.
