Similar to my definition. Light, 2-seater, RWD, 3-pedals.

I think, other then my Miata, the only other car with road feel close to it was a 280Z. [NOT ZX]

The electric PS on new cars/vehicles is horrendous for actual road feel. The input is so quashed [other then a VERY few models] that, without other active dynamic driving aids, I'd expect crashes to increase.

The last ever run of USA Alltracks got dashboard electronics updated, are a Haldex AWD wagon, and can have 6 speed manual. The USA/Candada CXBB engine punches (dyno) above grade and has all the mods available to R and GTI plus lots of VAG engines and powertrains. The back door shows the same shape as an Audi but I'm not saying it is one. Those last run models also still have manufacturer warranty. They can have good wheels for 45 series tires so not too fragile but performance.

My wife's is sort of an ultimate fun stealth machine for all those reasons and doesn't stand out like other vehicles we've had. It is proving to be the perfect complement to a long bed TRD OR that is work oriented.

We've also had more premium wagons and sedans but even the Alltrack size and ones you can buy new have another distinct advantage from a Tacoma which is back seat. A halo model or premium package cannot make back seat of a Tacoma get better than discount airline seating. I think Audi has their wagon due for an upgrade soon. Our friend's new Volvo is a classic nice long roof.

I can't say I don't like Tacomas - I have a new one. I just think they are best as light trucks. A long bed model is superior for road bumps but still a light truck and that aspect doesn't fix high center of gravity and live rear axle.

Wife's car is a Mazda 3 hatch AWD. Its fun, and it will take a corner blindingly fast before the first signs of understeer start appearing. I have a soft spot for five door cars. They are way more practical than they appear to be, and a number of them are blistering quick off the showroom floor.

The truck is great for camping, picking my line through rocks, or if I simply want an easy, quiet commute. The cars are great for driving when I'm in the mood to drive.

I saw a 3G TA on the road earlier today, it was black and had the later more rounded front bumper.

truck would be the daily and AC/Ventilated seats are a MUST! I live in Texas where it’s routinely 90+ degrees and 95% humidity. Last 3 cars had them and can’t go back lol

You would be wrong. Most COMPETITIONS with true sports cars you can't even have a convertible.

OP you are comparing apples to Zeppelin's.

The closest you are going to even come close to exhilaration in a truck from a sports car sense is maybe the TRX or even a bigger maybe the Raptor. Other than those you really should just prepare yourself for the new beginning of truck ownership and driving. NOTHING and especially a Tacoma is going to be like a sports car or even close.

Definitely both, or all 3. Toy car (sports car, classic, etc.), commuter car for work, etc., and a truck, for truck stuff! :)

    20240917_163937.jpg

I just got my TRD Sport yesterday, so the old faithful Ford is on the way out soon.

Hey, I see I am rocking the Red, White and Blue now. 66.6% is foreign, but what are you going to do?...

I like the Miata. Don't sleep on those little sports cars...they will make you look stupid with a novice driver.

Would I own one? Yes....this one:

Could you imagine?!!!! That would be a rush.

OP, not sure you will be happy unless you are done with that scene of "sports sedans/cars/whatever" and will be looking to sell in short order. If you are looking for a thrill and a truck, some good recommendations in this thread.

I've read a few reviews of the Flyin Miata 500 HP Camaro motor swap.

I have to tell you, after reading the articles, it's tempting to blow up the OEM engine so that I have an excuse for a project.

I like the Miata but I think it's a "Hockey Puck" sized vehicle.

The last 2-door I owned was a used 5-Speed/British Spec Toyota Celica when I was stationed in England in the early 90s...it must have been an early 80s model.

All I remember is, when I had to put our first-born in her car seat, my head would hit the ceiling...I soon sold that car and got a RH Mazda 626 sedan.

Why is there a comparison question lingering?

Everyone knows you buy a vehicle for its unique capabilities...a Sports Car & Truck are two totally different animals.

The transition shouldn't bring any doubt about each vehicle's usage.

I remember seeing LS swaps in the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, would be pretty insane to drive.

I have not driven a newer ND miata but I had a 97' NA8 miata and it was a blast. No power but you could drive it flat out around any corner. I would love to have a NB VVTI miata. But right now I am loving my X-Runners. Not quite as good handling as the miata but awesome combo of fun and practical. Dont think i will ever sell either one. I still have a e46 m3 that barely gets driven too. One day i really want a 240z tho
