Squeaking noise when truck starts

My 4gen makes all kind of weird noises, I really don't remember my 3gen this noisy.

 

Did you end up taking it in? What's the verdict?

 

I took it in and of course it didn't do it.... The dealer is only about 15 minutes away and I figured if I didn't turn on the heat or AC it would do it. Now dropping it off on 6 Oct for them to look at it on the morning of the 7th. I'll keep yall posted.

 

How loud is this squeak you guys are talking about? Is it with the a/c on only? I’ve yet to hear any squeaks . Genuinely curious of how loud it is

Mine is the same way and I’ve learned to accept it with the number of others reporting the same issue. Has to sit overnight to reproduce, chirps twice on startup and maybe 2-4 times while driving (if windows down/no radio), then it’s gone for the day. I’m fairly certain it’s the AC clutch.

it sounds like a bird chirp if you have the door open or window down when I start it, it’s not super loud, but I can hear it in my garage as I noted. If was awful it would go straight to the dealer.

You can hear it at the 8 second mark in this video and then again a few times after. Obviously it's louder in the video as my phone is closer.

I'm assuming this is similar to what others hear

You guys all need to contact Toyota corporate and make them aware of this issue. It's the only way they will resolve it and hopefully make a recall or TSB. This should not be a normal characteristic of a brand new truck.

My truck does it with the a/c or defrost on. Same sound as the video.

 

My truck did it also, everyday...
AC compressor also cycles when just the defroster is on, so what youre saying makes sense...
Its either a chirp from the ac compressor clutch field & pulley activating or a quick belt chirp from the initial start-up drag of the compressor...

Someone needs to bite the bullet & get theirs checked-out....
Im truckless for the moment due to lemon-law, but ill soon be back into the fire-pit when we can locate another white sr5 2wd with the upgrade package...

 

Same issue here, 10k appointment next week, I’ll ask

 

dont just ask, have them open a line on the repair order for it & get it checked out....
You may have to leave it...
As dont think it does it every time you start it, I dont recall...
Asking & not leaving it will do nothing inregards to thoroughly getting it checked out...

Everyone comes on here & complains about this & that but cant be inconvenienced in getting things properly documented & diagnosed.
We dont bring it to their attention, nothing will get resolved...

 

Have this as well. 2 sqeaks seems to be all it does. Probably nothing you can do about it.
