I've enjoyed reading about the mods folks have done to their trucks. It motivated me to consider making some subtle changes to suit my taste. I've been restoring this for the last year. Though I don't intend to ever sell it, I'm asked repeatedly what I'd take for it and I've never answered that question. Decided spending $10 - $20k on a full-scale factory paint job wasn't practical and simply didn't make sense. Opted instead to spend $2k to color correct it to eliminate what I perceived as imperfections; (some folks refer to them as battle scars). The last thing I'm planning to do is paint the front bumper and have the bull bar re-coated with a more granular texture. I'm currently at 369,740 miles and it runs better than it did when I bought it in 2004. I paid $15k for it and I've gotten way more than my money's worth. It's been an absolute joy to drive and it's been incredibly reliable. Interestingly enough, it's never been garage kept, and I don't have any kids or pets so maintaining it has been a labor of love.

Here's a list of changes I've made since I started down this path:

    De-badged.
    Hi-Fi Antenna
    Custom grille
    Fender flare upgrade
    Side Mirrors painted
    Rear bumper painted
    Powder-coated toolbox
    Line-X bedliner
    Clear lens side markers
    Smoked lens signal lights
    LED (headlight bulbs)
LED taillights / 3rd brake light, license plate lights
Interior has been completely re-upholstered including the center console
LED dome and side door lights
    Bilstein suspension (level kit used)
Went from 15" stock to 16" stock wheels
    Hankook Deep Treads 30s
Cab / Rear windows blacked out

That looks great! For the first gen they used better paint, 2nd gen to current they used a super thin and soft water based paint, your clear coat would have been long gone by now ironically if you had a 2nd gen or newer truck

Thanks - much appreciated. I kept looking at other black vehicles and some looked like shiny oil (they were so clean). I wanted that....LOL!! It's been in 5 wrecks (I got hit in each scenario), and it's been painted over time 'piece-meal'. The only part that has never been re-painted is the rear quarter panel on the passenger side. Two years ago the clear on the roof faded and it turned into white flaky peels - it looked really bad when the clear coat oxidized, so I got the entire roof and side cab panels repainted.
