The one dedicated 12v for the winch, on one side. (1ga. w/ disconnect, 175amp connectors)

Another dedicated 12v for air, on the other. (8ga. w/ inline fuse under hood. Double fuse dist. block for + , 2 in 4 out ground block, with a 50amp plug for air.)20240917_200758.jpg

Room for expansion and plenty of slack left to swap over to a 2nd battery someplace.

    Nothing fancy.

I have no idea what I'm looking at here or what they're for. Are they switches? Boosters? Inquiring minds want to know. I'd like to run power to the back for a Kickass Power Station and get a fridge. Something like this.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Those are to allow him to plug his winch and compressor in at the back of his truck...like how Pat @pearing uses his winch.

Like Rich said about the winch and compressor.
I already ran a line down the passenger side for the winch and winch only.
What you see in the pic will be in the driver side bed cubby.
    Power distribution.
On the left is a 1 in 2 out dist. block with a separate fuse for ea. out line.
On the right is just a 2 in 4 out plain dist block for the ground.

I'll hook up a cable with an Anderson plug for the compressor.
The other + output will be open for future expansion.
The ground block is going right to the battery so I'll have a sure solid ground for anything else I decide to do.
Running a winch (front or back) and compressor (back) was main objective without having to drag cables around. (plug and play)

I didn't have to go through the firewall as I ran straight to the back.
The wire follows existing factory wire along the inner side of the frame.

For the fridge I'm guessing an inverter would be required? Depending on the fridge, I guess.
I'm not that far along to get into the AC side of things.
    @wi_taco might be more helpful.
My get up is pretty raw at the moment.

if you are not running a 12v fridge you are doing it wrong. theres almost zero reason for AC power, especially for an extended period of time. most things you can get a 12v native version and most devices you can run / charge off USB these days.

I do have one of those little AC fridges that holds like a 6 pk.
I might try it for Bayfield just to keep a few things cold.
The 120v in the bed will allow it to, at least, run while the truck is.

I was thinking about doing the same thing awhile back. What I was told by others was that a regular fridge wouldn't hold up to the bouncing around and tilting from driving around with it. The 12V fridges do tend to be expensive, but I think they're worth it.

That said, I'm still on the fence about getting one.

This right here. And honestly even leaving your truck running isn't going to really use much fuel.

My long-term plans are to get rooftop solar hooked to a second battery to keep a fridge on 24/7. Even when my vehicle is parked for multiple days on end.

unless you are gonna be parked for more than 2-3 days straight you dont even need solar. I have a portable 135w panel I take with if im camping for an extended period of time.

My initial plan was to do something similar with a solar panel on the roof. Th 4Runner sometimes sits from Sunday until Friday. But, I have also considered a portable option.

@Shellshock , what kind of portable panel are you using?

Its one of the better portable ones I've found that is reasonably compact.

@Stoney Ranger - don't worry about what @bkhlrTaco's is doing, you don't need to do that. Follow what the guy in your YouTube video did and you should be all set. 12V DC fridges are usually a simple 15A fused circuit, that setup will handle it just fine and it's a clean way to do it. (Edit: If you are planning on a KickAss power station you possibly only need one power cable run back, not the same as that video. You'll have to read the manual for that device though I don't have it memorized.)

Re: 12V DC fridges...yes, the ones made for vehicles are much more rugged. Expensive up front but they are definitely the cat's meow. I am fully corrputed now that I have one, never going back. ICECO has regular sales and even has some with battery power too. The future is now.

Re: 120V AC appliances...just, no. No no no no no.

Solar: Never a bad thing to have. Need vs. Want depends on what the rest of your power system looks like. This thread is about spending money though so I say go for it lol.

At what point is the 180amp alternator no longer sufficient.
Fridge? Stereo, lights up the wahzoo and a disco ball?

I used to run a 400 watt bass amp off of my '03 4Runner, through an inverter. I probably never ran it full blast, but we'd play for an hour at a time or more sometimes. This was on the group camping trips my ex and I used to host. Some of the group has probably heard me refer to these trips as "the liver Olympics." The drummer from one of my old bands would set up a full kit, and we'd have jam sessions at Picnic Point. We definitely knew how to piss off the other campers. :D
