    Hey all,

So I bought a used 2020 TRD Off Road a few weeks ago. Great truck, love everything about it, except I discovered a few weeks after purchasing it that the microphone doesn't work. While diagnosing that, I also noticed the SOS button does not light up at all. I'm thinking this makes sense since they're both tied into the DCM module?

    Things I've tried so far:

    1) Disconnected battery for a few hours
    2) Checked DCM fuse and replaced (didn't appear burned out, but why not)
    3) Updated head unit firmware to latest software.

It's weird to me that the SOS button indicators do not light up at all. Most threads I've found online about the microphone not working will reference a red / blinking SOS indicator light indicating something is wrong with the module. To me, it seems like these are not even receiving power at all, which is why I checked & replaced the fuse.

I'm starting to think maybe the previous owner intentionally or accidentally disabled this module. I have found threads of people talking about wanting to do this, but not a lot of good info on how (so that I could check and potentially undo). There'a also an aftermarket remote start system installed, which I'm thinking could be the culprit if this were accidental.

Anyway, I want to get this fixed and I would rather avoid the stealership if possible. Any ideas? Where should I check to ensure that the mic / SOS / DCM module are connected?

Do the map lights work? I've seen the upper console not plugged in. It pulls straight down.

The next thing to check is remove the a pillar cover and check the harness connectors behind it, theres large grey connections.

You can opt out of DCM but because the mic is not working its likely a connection issue somewhere.

If you had a techstream you could scan the DCM/Telematics and see if it sees the SOS light but its fairly obvious it doesnt.

Do I need to do anything special removing the A Pillar? I'm assuming drivers side?

It has "SRS Airbag" on it so I'm assuming I need to disconnect the battery first at the very least. Can't find good info on this online

Watch a couple of YouTube videos on replacing dash tweeter and they’ll show you how to do it. Definitely disconnect the battery anytime your messing with electrical.

I haven’t had a chance to pull the A pillar yet, but I did run diagnostics through the head unit and got these error codes:

Looks like something to do with telematics? Sounds related

Do you now if it had an aftermarket radio in it before you bought it? If not might be some loose connections behind the radio.

nope, afaik this is the stock radio.

there was an aftermarket remote start kit installed from N2. I sorta suspect that this might have something to do with it.

I did also remove the head unit and check the connections in the back + push on a few of them to ensure they were seated properly. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary
