Stiff and too forward Headrest on 2010 TRD Sport. Any ideas on it??

I'm 6'1" and I'm fairly OK with the seats, though I notice I have little to no shoulder support. My wife is 5'3" and has to take a small pillow with us any time we take my truck, because the headrest shoves her head forward no matter what position it is in. Putting it up just makes it shove her head forward from further up her head.

 

I am going to see if I can find a way to try to bend them backwards.
I need to find a tool shop where I can secure the tubes and try to bend the pillow backwards some....
Will let you all know if it can be done.

PS: Does not seem to be any aftermarket option out there...

 

I miss my 08 head rests. They were far far superior, hella more comfy. I could kick back and take a nap on long trips (yes stopped) and be fine. Just touching these starts a migrane process

 

Yea dude they really do suck, it actually rather surprised me but I figure over time I'll get used to it more.

Did you ever try bend the headrest enough to make them more comfortable?

Just an update. I have the Wet Okole's now (for awhile actually)... and the additional padding they have made them pretty bareable... in fact I hardly notice it anymore.

Also, if you can get your hands on the 05-08 style head rests, they do fit. I tested them from a buddies truck.

 

I agree - the driver's side isn't too bad for me, but I turned the passenger side around because my wife is short and the forward lean bothered her

 

I put the rear head rest in the drivers seat. Fits perfect and it doesn't tilt forward.

The answer is YES and NO, the head rest metal could not be bent, no matter how hard it tried. The darn thing is probable the toughest part in the truck!
I figure that I if reclined by back rest another click or 2 make a big difference in the head rest confort, plus, the way the taco chair seats, it is more like a recliner anyways, than sitting upright like most care. So, I am happy with it.
Now I like the idea of using the back sit head rest! I will have to try that and see.

+1 on trading in the F150... we traded in our 09 F150 FX4 luxury package. The headrests were absolutely brutal. I don't even notice the ones in the Tacoma as being at all forward leaning compared to the Ford. Whenever myself or my father drove the F150 for more than 2 hours, we would get these awful upper leg pains.... never experienced it in a vehicle other than the F150. Plus the F150 didn't even have a telescoping steering wheel... that was lame. It was a great truck though.... if we ever need to get a fullsize again, it will definitely be another F150 (or maybe a 1st gen Tundra).

BTW... the sticker price on our F150 was $54,xxx.... had to keep working the dealer just to give us $23,500.... depreciation is awful on these things. Had it up for private sale for $30,000 (and saying that any reasonable offer would be considered)... didn't get a single phone call or email in two weeks of having it posted.

 

Thanks for the update. I'm going to look around for some to try and/or try the back seat headrests from a DCab as someone else suggested.

The headrests in my 2011 almost make the truck undriveable. I tried turning them around, but didn't like that as a permenant solution. It was either find a shop who could bend the posts a bit or find new seats, but simply replacing the headrests with a better fit in a factory matched color would work.

I drove a 2010 once and figured out if you gangster the seat way back it makes the headrest more vertical. I think toyota is trying to appeal to gangsters and people like me who are 6'5" and have 37" arms.
