Fun truck for 2 weeks !!!!

If they can get crate engines from Alabama to Mexico, they can get one to Utah.

Having a dealer try to rebuild a destroyed engine is ridiculous.

 

Aren't they going to send crate motors for the Tundra recall?

 

Texas law sucks for consumers. And it gets worse every year.

 

my buddys didnt get a crate motor when his blew up... they rebuilt it and called it good enough.. he had it for a few months after had more issues with it and toyota bought it back.

 

Did his pop recently? The initial fix was a rebuild

 

no his wasnt a recent pop. it was some time early this year? they just rebuilt it now they did replace the block since well it made a nice little window! but the head and everything else was reused.

Yea makes sense. I feel like the Tundra mess is not necessarily resolved.

 

hopefully it is! another buddy has a late 23 or early 24 something? but you never know!

 

Inregards to the turbo, the other guys told you correctly...
When I have engine oil starvation & / or metal debris through-out the engine due to bearing failure...
I lie, cheat, steal, get creative & fabricate an additional failure / cause & effect, whatever it takes to get the customer a turbo to go along with the engine....

At the time of teardown it may not show any damage or wear, but the metal debris in the oil system went through the turbo too....
Nobody wants to do a nightmare of a repair like this twice....

The way warranty works, you need to show evidence that it needs it, in most situations....
Just cuz you state metal contamination throughout entire oil system, doesnt automagically give you a green light to always replace everything in most cases...
But, I didnt work for toyota, just speaking from my experiences at ford...

 

That's just it, especially since it's an engine that's being made for vehicles on the line right now. Not something that's not being used to construct a vehicle.

 

It used to be consumer friendly. It sure as fuck isn’t now.

Update: Been 45 days.. dealership has not called me. I went in today and they told me they are still waiting on a couple parts and the engine should be built and ready by first week in November. F*ck that! Sales manager I was working with is on vacation of course and the other manager gave me that info and nothing else. Finance person was present and just walked away when I asked why I have not gotten a call back from her after 3 requests. I guess its time to get a lawyer.

 

It was time August 30th.
