@KingOfTheNorth was cursed by the old Chinese "suggestion" ... "May you live an interesting life".

I swear I just heard a banjo playing in my head... a rather known arrangement.

Doesn't it seem odd that they don't post in any threads? I don't use any social media, the closest is web forums, and most all of the forums I use are about as free speech as they get. This site is one exception.

You said my banjo playing skills are only rivaled by the sounds of the angels. You have never heard anything so magical.

Anybody in here have a 4th gen taco yet? Im curious if the reliability issues are overblown. They seem pretty bad. Trans and diff failures with under 500 miles

Turd gen had the same issues IIRC, under filled transmissions etc.

It is concerning that some youtuber did have their diff blow on a non obstacle.

Hopefully it's just the first year gremlins.

3rd gen did not have the same issue haha. There were very few that showed up under filled and most of them were saved. The 4th gens are having complete failures of brand new transmissions and front diffs. Toyotas explanation for the The Fast Lane Truck guys diff blowing up was that it exceeded the load limit of the diff by 3% THREE FUCKING PERCENT. Toyota really built some questionable quality into the 4th gen. Im curious if anyone has first hand experience with one. If you haven't seen the video, the obstacle that blew the diff was essentially nothing. Also it took Toyota weeks to give any response and when they did, they told TFL Truck they weren't aloud to badmouth them online or Toyota would sue. Even though they bought the truck full price from a dealership like anyone else.

No shit, I'll have to watch that when I get home. I guess I just misremembered but I coulda sworn there was lots of doom and gloom about the 2016 transmissions.

Yeah Toyota has been weird lately, like that guy whose GR Corolla caught on fire and Toyota sent a copy pasted ChatGPT rant about tires and exceeding 85MPH...o_O

3G transmissions don't have a problem, per se...the stock shift mapping is geared for fuel economy, which translates to constant gear hunting in the real world. They also have two overdrive gears...

Oh yeah the ratios are dogshit and having driven the 4 cylinder saddled with a 6AT i think I'm entitled to sack-punch the engineer who decided 5 and 6 were "deep" and "double deep OD".

I thought there had been legit failures though. But I do have brain damage so :notsure:

It's an absurdly deep OD too... pop some gears in there and the truck wakes up. I did thirds from a totalled MT for someone and even going to 4.30 made a night and day difference on stock tires. With 33s you could totally daily 4.88 if not 5.13s.

The ADD has been a weak point for Toyota. Jeep struggles with it too. Arguably it's a good thing because having your weak point be field serviceable is huge but if you aren't commuting but are wheeling frequently, it's not a bad idea to do a delete. Just know that the next weakest thing in the system might not be so easy to swap.
