What’s this squeaking sound?

I have this sound coming from my dash / windshield area. I bought this 2012 Tacoma few months ago and it’s been making this noise since and it’s starting to irritate me. Anyone else had this?

Welcome to Tacoma World. Nearly impossible to tell over the internet. If you think it's body panels squeaking against each other, press on each individual piece while it's squeaking and see if it gets quiet. Tessa tape between panels can help, there are other ways to silence panel squeaks too (just Google on that for more). Otherwise you're probably going to want to start checking other things to see if they are loose and rubbing. Good luck.

 

I can almost guarantee this isn't a panel squeak. I've had that in other trucks and it's completely different sound. This is a sound that only happens when accelerating at low speeds, it doesn't do it when braking or revving in park.

 

your keychain noise isnt helping in the video unless thats part of the noise, do you have your AC on?

 

Yeah I know. It does it whether the ac is on or off.

 

Well that sounds just like the noise I finally tracked down after a few YEARS on my 2011.

Check these corner plastic moldings on the outside lower corners of the windshield. Pictured here is the driver's side lower corner:
The molding (outlined in yellow) was rubbing on the seal underneath (indicated in red). For me, it happened at higher speeds only (55+ mph) and particularly if damp or wet out.
Tightened it up...and no more squeak. I discovered it by accident while working around the wiper... just bumped that piece with my hand and SQUEAK.
