It's a f'n black bear for chrissake. Throw a rock at it.

Ammo costs for that thing are outrageous. Over $1.00 a rd. May wanna bring your own. And double up on the hearing protection. Plugs and muffs. M'r f'r is loud. BTDT a few times. .44 special loads are O.K., but the full house mag loads will rock your world. Hang on tight.

For a cool light show, pop off a few in the dark.

Lemme rephrase. Yes, you should absolutely bring your .44. The guys that have never shot one will appreciate it. But throw a rock (which should be readily available) at the bears. A stick will do in a pinch.

Guy's a helluva shot...6 rounds from 6' and didn't hit the bear once?

edit: I realize they say that the adrenaline dump will screw you up, but damn.

 

I've met a few bear hunters over the years. Not always the brightest folks, although there are always exceptions.

 

Yeah, but it shouldn't take much smarts to hit a target that big 6' away...

At least the kid was smart enough to shoot the bear without killing dad!!

maybe he should have stuck to throwing rocks. Black bears are just big raccoons.

 

I think they're actually less aggressive than raccoons.

 

I would think that all bets would be off with a wounded bear.

Had a buddy that had guided bear hunts, you wouldn't believe some of the storys I've heard & things I've seen!

 

I agree. Wounded bear, or mom with cubs, definitely not something you want to mess with. Also, a hungry black bear can be dangerous.
