Okay got a couple more pieces in. The plan ended up working to put a water tank behind the ammo box slide thats basically wasted space. Only thing left is the table and mount. Working on the water pump and sprayer now. 20240903_132448.jpg 20240903_132452.jpg 20240903_132521.jpg

@Snaeper Did you take a look at it at expo west? It was on a jeep which from my research has close to the same bedrail height. My interest is in making it a camper.

No, I've never been, but I did see that Jeep in a video that they sadly didn't spend much time looking at.

I had the same interest as you, though.

yeah they have to pump the more expensive options. here's a decent video, shows the height well enough. I was also looking at the at truck cap, but I think this is a better option for mounting things.

Nice, I think I started that video but didn't finish and never got to the point to realize that they were only doing the base camper.

Seems like there's quite a gap between the cab and the cap wall that could be some modification real estate to mount thinner items.

I'm also a bit curious if the filler plate for 6ft beds could be swapped out during assembly/installation for something else.

There is a panel that goes between the cap and cab it just wasn't shown.

@Snaeper not sure if you have Instagram but Ashville vehicle outfitters did a story with a flat roof Modcap today on a tacoma long bed. I think there is plenty of headroom in it.

OK4WD is running a sale on 3rd Gen short bed Alu-Cab Contour Canopies. 15% off + free shipping. Couldn’t pass it up. Ordered it Tuesday and it showed up unexpectedly Friday at noon. Also got the load bars and latch covers but didn’t get any pics yet. This thing is beautifully made.

With seeing this Alucab thread, I thought I'd share these pictures. Last August, I rented a Tundra with an Alucab form Alaska Overlander 4x4 out of Anchorage. I really liked the Alucab! It was decently setup with kit, including a fridge, kitchen gear, heater, and hot water/shower (which we didn't use). The awning was way up there, which I never got use to getting it closed!

If I owned it, I kept thinking how I'd customize it? For one, I'd put the fridge next to a window, so I could easily get into it, as they had the fridge centered in the back of the bed. And just stuff, like I missed my JetBoil for making coffee. (They just had a standard grill.) Plus I'd put more padding on the GooseGear tops, and have more drawers. I did like all of the Alucab's pockets for storing little stuff.

The tent bed was super nice. It had plenty of room for my wife and I. Plus, the tent windows were great when open for the view, although it rains a lot in Alaska, so we usually kept them closed.

And last, the rental experience was great! The only issue was with the 2023 Tundra, as it had an electrical transmission sensor go out, so half way through the trip, we were instead given a 4Runner with an iKamper (which the stock mattress in that was lacking). The Tundra had to go back to the dealer in Anchorage.

The Alucab really is probably the best way to go. Unfortunately, they’re way too heavy in my opinion for midsize trucks IMHO.

Trying to think of a way to secure a Coleman stove on its side in here, with NO drilling. Any ideas?

Magnets? Suction cups? Really challenging with no drilling, ha.
