i hate when they give you those crazy small stuff sacks! no matter how hard you try, you will never get the thing folded down to how it was originally sealed. what kind of tarp do you have? I normally just roll stuff like that up really tight and as small as I can and put a heavy duty rubber band or piece of nylon rope around it to keep it folded/rolled.

alright... thought I might bring this topic up again for the newer people to this thread and to see if anyone has come up with anything new. What do you guys like to take for food on your trips? The MountainHouse meals and stuff are ok, but they are so expensive and to me, a lot of them don't taste all that great!

I also need some new ideas. I just bought the jetboil cooking pot.

Here is my list: I dont mind packing a little extra weight if it means eating some tasty food after a full day of hiking!

Easy mac! (just boil up some water and noodles, add the powder cheese!)

    ramen noodles and skyline chili

hobo pack (make the day before you leave an eat it the first night. i often do uncooked chicken, broccoli, instant rice and all kinds of other stuff. throw it in aluminum foil and on to the hot coals!)

chef boyardee. (anything in a can I take out and put it in a gatorade bottle or something that I can burn when I cook it)

post up what you all cook!

We used to do that in scouts with a 9-volt and Brillo pad.

Really you can do it with anything that has positive and negative leads and enough current.

Sucks I have an iPhone. But I imagine if I'm in an emergency situation I would rip that sucker apart for fire (assuming I won't be needing it later).

yeah. I usually take my digital camera with me and a spare battery. So i could just use that instead of compromising my cell phone. even the batteries from your headlamp.

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s
Solomon has made a few versions of those for a while now including ones made to be immersed with mesh sides which are really sweet for summer hiking. I have a bunch of friends who bought pairs 8-9 years ago at EMS and still bring them back to be replaced under their lifetime warranty. I think they are on at least their 4th or so pair by now.

Yeah I have had several pairs. I love them they are comfy and work well for hiking, camping, and trail running.

My gf just bought me an early birthday present. http://www.rei.com/product/811088

I got the long one and it fits me perfect. I tried out all the other ones and I was getting so frustrated because I couldn't find one to fit my 6'2 260lbs body. Now I just need to get a pad, tent and a stove and I should be set

Pretty much put all my camping gear in it, and wore it around the house and yard. The weight seems to vanish once you've adjusted the straps just right. Can't wait to take it out for the real test!

Awesome! I hate sleeping bag shopping. its hard to find the right bag.
nice! I was looking at a few of those. Are you going to go have the waist band molded? I know the outfitter near me has a machine that melts the band down and they are able to perfectly mold it to your hips.
