it looks like a wheel lock lug nut, same concept. The pain in ass part for me was finding someone with a matching key so I could remove the lock. Lucky for me I noticed the missing key before I needed the spare.

I purchased when 2.0 came out, under the assumption that performance tunes would be available at some point based on posts by the company. All that the tune pack came with was tunes that were supposed to be a slight improvement over Toyotas.

I noticed no positive difference whatsoever except occasional pinging and very harsh downshift when braking. After settling in over a few hundred KM, It was literally worse than stock, and the dude working for them at the time (Rafael I think was his name)was dishonest and not helpful.

Recently I found out that I apparently missed a mandatory update, and VFtuner will allegedly no longer work without more money from me.

I never updated since newer versions required A wifi connection during tuning at the time, which would have been an issue since I tuned using a desktop in my garage with no internet.

just a bad experience all around. Every turn of trying to use this product would cost me more money for improvements I’m no longer sold on… If I recall the kit and tune pack cost me almost 1300 dollars Canadian. Been sitting in my tool closet unused for almost 5 years.

Glad to help save people money. If you do really want to tune, perhaps contact a local tuner. There are people who customize and make their own tunes with the platform that are supposed to be much better, and possibly cheaper since they use their own equipment. I’m not badmouthing any of them, I’m just fully disenchanted with tuning and refuse to spend more money on anything software related with this truck. Drives like hot dogshit but has been nothing but reliable and extremely versatile. Still love the truck lol

 

Meso dual map/dome lights. Way too bright for my liking. I reinstalled my factory led maps and added a dual white/red bulb for the dome, can switch back and forth.

 

I owned a Retrax MX at one point and regretted not getting a tri-fold like a Bakflip MX4 instead. The Retrax eats up a foot of bed space, making the already short bed into an even shorter bed. I also didn't like the way the latch was implemented on one side. The other side would also loosen up over time and opens slightly. You can also push it to about a little over a finger gap to see what's inside the bed.

 

I had the MX4 before I got my ARE shell, it was a really fantastic product.

 

I installed the caliraised light bar brackets in the a-pillar for a 52" light bar. I've since removed the light bar and now have nutserts still in place. I got a quote from a body shop to have them removed, the holes repaired and repainted to the tune of $3,000.

 

Used HD leaf springs from an owner who had a severely overloaded truck. Should've just held out on something in a little better condition.

 

Ouch. I think I'd have to stick with body color painted machine screws in the serts.

 

That's the direction I'm thinking too.

 

E rated tires. It felt like driving on concrete tires. Thankfully was able to swap them out for another set.

 

I'm on E-rated tires now, but I have a ton of weight on my truck. They're definitely more rigid, but I don't think they're too bad.

I'm curious what some of you are running psi on your E-rated tires, and why your truck rides rough?

My pizza cutters go up to about 35-37 in the summer with the heat. In the winter, I'll try to keep them around 34, knowing on cold day they go down to about 32 psi..

No issues here...

 

the window sticker shows a spare lock, it should match the door key, and another one is on the spare hanger, just add a padlock, crazy to have 2

edit, the 75$ lock has a key like a wheel lock.....a sorry design

don’t do much for debris shielding and I’m pretty sure I lost an mpg or two. I’m guessing because they’re like mini air paddles sticking out. Or it’s probably a non factor. Either way I’m getting mudflaps.
