I was wondering the same. I'm on E rated tires and run 33psi year round. Rides smooth and there is only a slight change from stock tires. I can feel cracks and stuff in the road a little more but they are by no means harsher on bumps or anything.

Only regret is buying red TRD branded valve stem caps. They faded fast and are now a redish silver.

    Not saying it’s an issue.
    I run 37 psi hot 34ish cold.
A lot of grooves on our roads it likes to follow. I believe the tire width and lift adds to the truck feel. Running the interstate it’s pretty smooth.
    Anywho I’m ok with it!

It’s an almost great design if you have the funking key! If you don't, the only way to get to the locking lug is by taking the tire out and the only way to get to tire out is by cutting the hoist chain. Lucky enough for me there was a dealer in the sf Bay Area (shout out Fremont Toyota) that had all the possible keys so I could lower the tire and remove the lock without cutting the chain.

the lock was a McGard …the folks at McGard were fine btw, but it was going to be at least a week before I could get a replacement key and I was on a scheduled road trip beforehand.

    Yeah.
I ran 37 psi cold on 265/75R16's. I started at 35 psi cold with 285/75R16's but increased to 37. Steering and handling on pavement was a bit too vague at 35. This site does the conversion, and says I should have been at 41 and 35, but I ended up at 37 on both. I don't think it will suggest less than 35 psi for any E-rated tire.

Are you not happy with this lock?

    I was considering purchasing it.

lol. that is what a put a padlock on. i believe i remembered putting it thru the chain when i first got the truck.
then i decided to flip the spare around so valve stem was on bottom....and that is when i discovered the loop for the lock.
i have never had a flat, and i can air it using the down facing stem, so i never lowered the spare since i flipped it...and so faulty memory remembered using the chain which was abandoned when i discovered the loop.
you made me go out and lower it to make sure i am not crazy. 1st time in 6 yrs.
i put some pipe insulation foam around the padlock to insure there is no rattle. it may to work...absolutely no rattle. keeps it clean too.

I’ve exclusively run E rated tires on my taco since I upgraded from the stock tires. I usually have them at 35psi cold, they usually wind up around 40psi after driving a bit. I think the truck rides just fine or I wouldn’t be on my 3rd set of E rated tires lol

I used to use fancy valve stem caps but one winter 2 of them welded themselves to the stem due to corrosion probably from chemicals on road for ice and snow. Now I just use plastic in black or grey depending on rim color.

I have a bed mat and it's great if you don't want things to slide around. It's also great if you're doing anything where you have to put a knee down because those grooves hurt like hell. I bought that flat tailgate insert for that reason and would never go back. But if I'm doing a dump run or transporting anything heavy back there I'll take the mat out so my cargo slides in and out easier. It takes 10 seconds to put it in or take it out, so I think it's a good investment.

I run 40PSI in my 285/75r16 E rated tires...no complaints. I think my suspension helps counteract the stiffness of the rubber.

but the truck is also a heavy pig with full armor, winch, bumpers, GFC, and so on.

    That’s what

    She said :D

I like all these answers. Makes me want to revisit and play around with tire pressures again
