My biggest upgrade regret would be buying a 3rd gen in the first place.

My spare lock popped out of place and almost made it to where I couldn’t get the spare down. I barely could get the key into the lock. I was the one who added that junk thinking it was a good idea. I chunked it in the trash when I had problems and I have no regrets about that.

No regrets. Toyota bed mat, UWS toolbox, Meso Total Tail 1 harness and push start button, Tufskinz letters on the tailgate and glove box, Diode Dynamics fog lights and interior LEDs, Kicker tweeters, RekGen mud flaps, Weathertech floor liners, Talons Garage cat shield, and Steelcraft nerf bars. All good, all working, and happy with all of them.

    Rear differential howl.

Pulls to the right, poor on center feel. No it's not the alignment or tires.

Rear differential bolts were loose not tightened to spec, I torqued them to spec, but it still oozes.

Front driver side suspension was creaking and moaning and groaning. Strut bolts were also loose and were also not torqued to spec. Noise is 99% gone now.

Driver side window rattles and pops while driving.

    Front window glass is wavy.

Numerous defects in the paint finish.

Cab vents have a small water leak.

Cramped interior with horrendous driving position.

Horrible transmission, even after getting the OTT tune.

The most underpowered vehicle I have ever driven.

The AC basically doesn't work sitting in traffic when it's 90+

The worst braking system anyone could devise on a modern vehicle.

2023 Turd off road with 3,300 miles. I drave my other vehicles as I hate the thing. I'm in the market for it's replacement likely a full size, it will not be a Tundra. I just came out of a 2010 Tacoma and that was a nice vehicle, but the frame was going. Before that was a Chevy Silverado which was an amazing truck.

I pretty instantly regretted swapping for a Carven TR muffler, was pretty obnoxiously loud, much better after putting a Vibrant Super Quiet in front of it though =)

I’ve gone through the loud exhaust life with sports cars when I was younger. Was fun before, but now I prefer something a bit quieter and little-to-no drone.

Although I will have to say the cops in California plays a part in this. California is not modded car friendly (I doubt they’ll give a huge fuck about Tacomas, but I do have to watch out in my Evo 8)

    so…minor nit picks basically.

Kidding, ….sorry to read all of that. I have a ‘16 Sport and have had none of those mechanical or factory issues… but understand other ones you’ve mentioned….

I used mine once for vacation. I wasn't a huge fan of it. I actually sold it on here.

None that I actually regret, but there are a few that I don’t really use. The top is probably my console safe. It’s extremely solid / thick steel and works exactly as it should. I just don’t really use it very often, maybe a few times a year.

There is a part on the side rails where the latch slides into which keeps the top closed. The other side also has that same part but no latch. If they kept everything the same but developed a mechanism that also latch the passenger side. It’d be a solid product. The latch is just a real downer especially for the price.

I was going to get the Carven cat back when they had their sale but my gut kept telling me I’d be too loud. Glad I didn’t get one. I’ve been looking at the Borla S Type.

Wondering if I should have gotten passenger defenders instead of e load range ko2s. Some of the potholes and stuff around here can be pretty damn jarring. I was driving late at night last weekend and was on a road with a sunken manhole cover in my path what felt like every 200 ft and it was straight up aggravating. Also, the ko2s throw rocks like crazy.

I went with 265/75/16 e load Ko3s when they released for sale last month. After 1k miles, smooth and works great in every environmental condition I’ve thrown at them(no snow or mud yet)
