Trends are weird. For a while, a person of class wouldn't have a fireplace in their house because stoves and central heating were the rage and fireplaces were for poor people. Decades later, fireplaces were fancy again.

Wall-to-wall carpet had its moment of fashion. It's also nice for making a drafty house feel warmer. Hardwood floors get cold.

I snagged a 5 gallon bucket with a pour spout in the lid. Easy to dump oil into and easy to dump the oil back out into the collection bin at the parts store. Using a single container also forces me to empty it semi-regularly instead of piling jugs on my shelf and forgetting about them.

I did have about 8 gallons of used oil sitting around when I got the bucket. Whoops.

Yeah, i suspect youre right. My grandparents houae has a drop ceiling installed, which was popular for a bit to reduce heating costs.

Before i moved in my place they replaced the old carpet with cheap gray carpet. Was not impressed, and very happy to find hardwood underneath thaf juat needed a good sand.

My dad had a couple 5 gallon oil buckets from his concrete pump days , same idea. Works great.

The wall-to-wall carpet does a nice job of protecting the hardwood underneath :)

hmmm does the lid snap on like a regular bucket? that sounds pretty handy

I have been using this style but they always seem to leak from the lid in transport and are messy to pour from

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Put up a new shelf in the front of the shop today. Seems flat surfaces are always in high demand. I don't know why I had such nice scraps of wood in the rafters, it was clearly used for something before but I can't find where it's missing in the house.

    It's a lid like this: https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-9943BLU/Pails/Lid-with-Spout-for-35-5-6-and-7-Gallon-Plastic-Pail-Blue

I haven't had any issues with leaks around the lid of the bucket while pouring, but I have had mixed success getting laminar flow to avoid splashing.

EDIT: More convenient purchase option: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/marshalltown-pour-spout-lid-gasket-tear-tab-2357555

Tour rafters is the gift that keeps on giving. The platform was probably the best mod we did at your place, Venice loves it.

    4 run, 2 don't
Had to do a quick Home Depot run, and whenever I go, I typically buy a pair or two of Milwaukee gloves as disposable all-purpose gloves for the shop

Decided to try these since they were cheaper and again, they're meant as disposables

    20240921_190504.jpg

These were brand new, and I got 2 lefts in one of the packs

Just an FYI to check before you buy them and take them home
