Yeah! Troop tent for now, I decided to do the pavillion next year or year after, cause I've got some nice logs almost ready to make some 20' beams and I'd rather do that than try to even find 6x6s the length I want without having to do a midspan join.

Sweet, I am picking up the steel this afternoon. I do have a great lumberyard near me if you want to look into that at all.

Same here, I hit just a hair under 19 today at $1 off, $1.79 a gallon. That will last me 2-3 weeks..

My wife is always watching the flyers etc so if she notices something that has a huge point total and we would buy it anyway then I just grab it

With stripers your fine, they have teeth kind of I guess. Literally feels like wet 60 grit sandpaper. You can also get one of these dodads if you want. I can see one of these behing handy so you dont get a giant hook in your hand when the fish thrashes a bit

On today's episode, the weird lighting fixture I've been tinkering with finally got hung this morning. I scored most of an old kerosene chandelier that had been converted quite professionally to Edison style electric from quite some time ago. The socket itself was great, a made in England Edison brand socket with big beefy brass wore terminals. There were these tiny mummified leads of some kind of wire that had been bodged recently and poorly with e-tape, so I *dEstRoYeD the ColLeCtoRs VaLue* and just put some decent made in USA gold tone lamp cord in there via the original conversion route, and actually put the damn thing in service. Besides, it was my $50 to throw on the ground.

One really surprisingly excellent eBay transaction later for some period (to the original kerosene guy) original green glass, and some swearing and laughing at the fates later, it's up.

I definitely think there is a specific specialty LED bulb out there for this thing, but this style with the blanked neck is serviceable enough for now. There's VERY little "peek" of the emitter from regular viewing angles even seated.

Well done, Good Sir. Did you ever figure out what those little pieces over the doors were all about? And that reminds me, how did that jointer work out? That was a heck of a deal.

That jointer is a beast! No idea about the trim, it's not even attached. I'm excited to get my shop moved to the new place, but I have to wire and board the walls in the workshop before I move in or it will be janky forever.

Any pics of the conversion on that chandelier? My wife has something very old she inherited from her grandma very recently and was asking what we could do to get it installed. Would love to see something actually well done before i get my grubby hands on it :anonymous:

The walls aren’t as bad as the floor. My shop floor is all wood planks that aren’t very flat. Want to put concrete for truck work then an actual flat wood floor for the wood shop

I'll get up in its grill to change to a warm white bulb soon, I'll try to remember to get some pics. It was fairly straightforward and thankfully lamp hardware is pretty standard and simple - there's "big" and "little" lamp thread, which I want to say is 1/8" and 3/8" common, which is hollow (small pieces are called "lamp nipples") and then there are nuts/locknuts, sockets, and various fittings that fit the thread for stuff - finials, hooks, loops, etc.

You can turn anything into a lamp - basically you're going to just figure out where you want the socket, drill the correct common size hole for the nipple and wire, and screw it all together.

This one they basically drilled out the old wick hole and through the bottom of the lamp head and the wires feed through the original cast opening in the bottom, which I guess would have just been to make sure it doesn't overpressure inside or let condensation build up.

Progress today. Tamped the pad, careful layout of some heavy duty road fabric, and a test position for the skids that will support and anchor the tent. I don't like how the test skid turned out and abandoned it as seen - I picked up a grip of 2x8x16 concrete precast, I'm going to level those and then lay the skids on them tomorrow starting bright and early and pry those skids up (they're pinned at each end with those rebar stakes I made, 18" each and sledged into packed gravel and rock dust, dammit) and Inshallah get the tiles leveled and the tent put up at least per directions - I'm going to be making some modifications for longterm setup but I can do them all from the inside one piece at a time once it's up.

Fucking pissed. So, for context, I have a modeling amplifier for recording guitar tones straight to my computer. Had it for ~10 years now, served me very well, professional grade piece of hardware that is now superceded and discontinued/EoL. I fucking love this thing, it's desert island equipment for me. Andddd I think I fried the main input. Restrung my guitar recently and haven't clipped the strings at the headstock yet so they're flopping around pretty freely, and the stand for the guitar is right against the wall with the light switch. I had it unplugged to make some setup adjustments since the strings were buzzing/fretting out and when I went to put it back I draped the cable over it. Tip of the TRS touched the bridge on the guitar and sparked. I'm immediately concerned and thinking to myself what the fuck was that, go to grab the guitar and get bit at the strings. So now I'm REALLY concerned, wondering if there's something internally shorting some kind of weird way, and then I remember the cable is still plugged into the modeler, so immediately I'm thinking that's fried too. The light switch on the wall failed internally, which livened up the plate screws, which my dangly guitar strings at the headstock touched, which sparked on the cable, which then did in fact fry my fucking input. So now I have to try a couple things before emailing support to see if by some miracle they have parts in stock for this very outdated unit. It's all so fucking stupid and if I lose this unit over some Mr magoo level fuckery I'm gonna be beside myself. End rant, sorry lol
