    oh whatever.

From what I'm seeing you literally just press out the sphericals and pop in rubber bushings.

Or take them to a shop. Someone must want $20 or a dozen donuts for pressing out four easy-to-press-out bearings.

I bet you could do it with a vise.

I also bet there are some NM members on here that would be happy to help.

Side note that I need to get back down around Taos to fish, explore, ride angelfire, etc. :spy:

This is in the list to explore. Might cut that way after checking out Jemez this weekend. I've heard really good things about it, and it does look like quite a few mountains with dirt road access.

You just need a socket set and hammer and you should be able to drive them out.

Thanks, unfortunately they are compressed on TW, but i was rather impressed with the images i got this morning. Found quite the spot to go with a wide variety of birds. First time ive ever seen a green heron and was shocked at how small it actually was. Only bummer thing is its a spot i can't take V. Felt bad as she got all worked up when she saw me grab the camera that has always signaled that we are going for an adventure.

Ain't that the truth. its my fault, i take here almost everywhere these days so she doesn't get when she doesn't get to go. i think she knows when i'm going to work, but otherwise she expects to go. One thing about her these days is she always waits by the door, hasn't been a time i come home and she isnt right there. What's unique about my apartment is that its a second story apt but i have a ground level entrance, so she is always at the bottom of the stairs, at the door when i get home. She seems to have adjusted well other than that.

So, couple photography questions...figure I might as well ask here since this is where all the people whose opinions I care about hang out.

    1. What's the longest shutter speed you're comfortable hand-holding?
    2. How far do you crank the ISO to increase shutter speed? (at what point do you just say... too dark)
    3. Do you do anything for noise reduction when shooting higher ISO (and if so, what)?
    4. For all of the above... what sort of image stabilization does your specific camera/lens support, if any?

I've realized recently that some of my hand-held longer exposures (in the say, 1/4 range) aren't as sharp as I want them to be. Or, rather, they aren't as sharp as they used to be, probably because I'm getting old and can't hold my creaky old fingers as still as I used to be able to. Anyway, looking for a starting point to start in shutter speed that other folks feel is a minimum.

    Ill bite.....
    1. What's the longest shutter speed you're comfortable hand-holding?
The golden rule is to match your shutter speed to your focal length. For example, if i am shooting at 70mm i cannot let me shutter speed dip below 1/70s. With the advent of IS, you can get away below that but that is your safe spot, your on the edge of the envelope below it. My 70-200 has no IS so i have to follow that to a T, and ensure my ISO is set properly to hit that.
    2. How far do you crank the ISO to increase shutter speed? (at what point do you just say... too dark)
As far as i need for the shot. i tend to shoot a higher ISO than most based on my need for high shutter speed to minimize action blur. I think it is different setup to setup. I find anything above 250 ISO has some grain to it, but its pretty consistent and doesnt get worse linearly with ISO. For example, the two images below, one was 3200 ISO and the other was 1000 ISO. You let me know which is which...

    3. Do you do anything for noise reduction when shooting higher ISO (and if so, what)?
I have see there are add-ons and such to eliminate or reduce noise, but i dont mind the noise usually, it gives it more of a film grain look that i actually kind of like. i may try to use one of the reducers in the future to see if i feel it helps, but its so far a non-issue.
    4. For all of the above... what sort of image stabilization does your specific camera/lens support, if any?
Varies from lens to lens the capabilities. i have a very robust system on the 600, but as mentioned earlier the 70-200 has nothing.
