2021 TRD OR, Leer topper, Decked, in the back; ole girl is sagging bad. Factory suspension cannot keep up with the load in the rear, so the truck is squatted currently (1/2” drop front to rear wheel wells)

Looking at my options to beef up the rear suspension, and considering just doing a lift all around while I'm at it.

    My big question:
Will the OME Heavy Duty Leafs lift the truck 2” from its current height or 2” from its factory height. Assuming the latter, due to the extra constant load being factored in as thats the purpose of the springs. Wanted to see if y'all had any experience with this situation or what your setups/recommendations were

    Thanks

Dobinsons leafs over ome all day. My medium duty leafs were pretty much flat after a year with just a topper well within the recommended range.

Is yours a short or long box? Check the dobinsons site and you will see the change in suggested loads per leaf pack change be it a aclb/dcsb vs a dclb.

The suggested 2" is it will support x amount of weight and provide 2" of lift. When my 112's are un loaded is more like 3.5" of lift

as much as i thought the over rating on my OME springs I've the medium which should be enough for my topper they are already saggier then id like. but for the deal i got on them I'm
not going to really complain at this point! if OME id "weight up"

By far the most helpful reply I’ve gotten when asking about leafs/lifting with camper, thank you.

What struts did you install with that? Forgive my ignorance on this stuff pretty new to the suspension game

I swear I have a 5” lift with my 112 heavy springs even with an about 400lbs (camper, bike rack, swing out, fridge, toolbox, goal zero, maxtrax).

Probably going to go with the 111’s, 2” is plenty high for me and trying to avoid having to put UCA’s in the front if I can help it

I have medium load ome springs, they are loud and stiffer than hell even with a few hundred lbs in the bed. If i could go back i woulda tried any brand other than ome.

Also with my 2" lift from the springs i got a real bad vibration so i used shims to fix that, but now i was lifted like 3" so keep that in mind when setting it all up if you have to do the same thing.

Purchased heavy duty OME leafs years ago for my kid's Toyota pickup for loading it down with gear. When I bought it back, I removed two of the leafs from each side following the OME instructions to get a "medium" rate spring. Worked a treat.

    Cheers

HD’s should be a good match with your set up. Sounds like the lift will be around 2 inches

Thanks for the help guys. Think im going to give the Dobinson Leafs a try, and throw some 5100’s w/ coils in the front at 1.5-2” so my rake isn’t too exaggerated. Then 275/70-R17 grips to fill out those wheel wells. Will post update once its all done with before and after pics

FYI - if you are thinking about getting the greasable bolts, they didn’t fit in my frame up front unless I would have drilled out the frame, which I was not going to do.

The greasable bolts fit into the shackle side no issue.

This was on my 2015 2nd gen, but I received an unacceptable answer from Dobinson’s Australia engineering team to just drill out my frame since the threaded portion of their bolts was bigger than the unthreaded shank which would fit.

    None (YET!)
Not trying to hijack... but how many people mix and match... say Dobinson's springs with OME MT64's? Interested how a system designed to work with its own brand of springs ( like OME) would work with with another spring or if their would be any drawbacks... I mean in theory in my head the answer is no.. but I am not a suspension engineer :)

I've Bilstein's up front with the HD springs, the back are OME medium springs, with fox 2.0 external res shocks... my trucks a bit of a kit bash.
