3rd Gen LED Headlight Repair tabs (LED!!)

Been spending a bit of time looking into this and @dschreib makes a very good point.

I spoke with JB Weld and they did identify that Plastic Bonder is not specifically rated for Polypropylene (gaaaa!).

I have been looking for products that list PP and they are few and far between.

At this point I will recommend folks continue with plastic bonder. I have not received a single report of failed adhesion.

It is highly recommend folks sand the surface well and clean it well too.

I will continue reaching out to find something specifically recommended for PP

 

My 2 cents is that the JB plastic bonder is a very strong glue to use. I tried other types of two part epoxy and could peel them off but not the JB plastic bonder.

 

FWIW, I used the plastic bonder mentioned above and I've had my headlight repair tabs on for almost a year now and don't have any issues to report. They've held up great!

Should we use a spacer between the bolt and body if its replacing a broken tab? Or is it already adjusted to go deeper on for attachment if the tab is broken off?

 

I have done both and imo a spacer isn't needed.

When I did it I just used a regular washer. It does put the normal amount of space in there which is nice but on ther other side I didn't use one and it felt fine without it.

After a massive print failure I finally have these back in stock!

 

How do you position the tab when installing? Pushed against the vertical or flat section?

@dschreib sorry I didn't get back to you. I'm guessing you made a decision on which way to glue it. Either should work but it was designed to fit against what was remaining of the old tab.
