There aren't too many months left in 24. I was thinking September might produce the best deals. With the potential dock worker strike and its repercussion, there might not be too many new vehicles showing up at dealerships what they got is what they got. I don't expect sales to explode anytime before 2025, most dealers have enough volume to meet any demand they will see in the next three months. Demand will probably drop as holiday sales pick up.

Some vehicles that I've been looking at are priced lower than last month, but those prices are the same as they were in June. I'm still thinking the discounts will shrink in December.

Don’t buy in December or January otherwise registration will be due each year right around Christmas. You don’t want your Christmas present to be your car tag especially in Ca where registrations can easily be $700+ per year.

I have no idea when the prices on vehicles are the best.

A local dealer's financing rep once told me Aug-Sep is better. After that the selection dwindles. By end of the year it would be slim pickings. You're looking for a 4th gen?

Labor Day deals tend to be pretty great because it's the first US holiday after the model year changeover and dealerships will try hard to get previous model year vehicles off their lots.

Best days otherwise are right before the ends of months, years, and quarters. Dealerships that want to keep good sales numbers will discount at the end of tracking periods in order to goose the period's numbers.

Last week of the month. But only if you find the right dealer. Salesmen have monthly incentives that will mean a bonus or some sort of prize for them. If the salesman you're dealing with has already met the goals for that month he isn't likely to make the same deal as the guy at another dealership that only needs one more sale to meet his goal.

End of month, also they need to have high inventory.

If you're looking at low inventory like a Hybrid you're out of luck, but a common model thats been sitting will leave way more room for negociating.

I bought my last two vehicles within the last few days of the month. With used, they tend to want to get it off the books, so a better chance of a slight price break.

No not looking at a 4th gen yet. Just looking at a few pricing trends between a few manufacturers and dealers which isn't going to give me any real information. Mostly wondering what the supply side is going to do the market.

Jan and Feb are normally slow months for large item purchases.

Many people have spent a lot money before Christmas, and credit card bills due.

I priced out a new 2019 manual TRDOR with tech package at $31k in late Jan 2020.

The best time to buy a new car is when you don't need one.
    Pretty much applies to anything.
